About Trevor Etienne and HUMBL

Dec 16, 2021, 8:30 PM

As with most things that are new, there is a lot of confusion around NFT & Blockchain technology. The announcement today around Trevor Eitenne made me jump out of my seat for joy as this is a very intelligent idea.

Maybe I can help explain why as I'm actually invested in HUMBL (which is a LOT more than just NFT's). I understand NFT's and blockchain a little so maybe I can shed some light.

1st - Blockchain is a system of recording information in a way that makes it impossible to change, hack, or cheat the system. Think of a ledger, but online (and can't be hacked/stolen).

2nd - NFTs (or non-fungible tokens) are unique digital tokens that serve as proof of ownership of an asset, and cannot be replicated.

3rd - This isn't some kinda of bidding war b/n fans of schools. Let's just get that out of the way. It's a fun chance for them to vote who they think the school will be that he will choose. His quote is just hypothetical thinking for future athletes. In short, if you Vote for Clemson, and Trevor choses Clemson, then you'll have the opportunity to purchase NFTs from HUMBL, of which Trevor will be the beneficiary.

What Trevor is doing is simply taking ownership of his Name, Image and Likeness, in a unique way, and this is a vehicle for him to do just that.

A great example is this: Getty Images. If someone is a photographer for Getty, they take a picture of Trevor Etienne committing to Clemson, they own that and can sell a license to someone use it. What Trevor is doing is taking ownership of some of his own images and/or artwork, for himself, and selling them.

Here's where it can get crazy...

Let's say a Clemson fan buys a digital picture (NFT) of Trevor Etienne for $50. Trevor can establish the NFT in a way that he gets royalties on every sale for the rest of time. Example: Let's say that Clemson fan decides to sell that same NFT 4 years later for $1000, they might pocket $900 and Trevor would receive a 10% royalty.

This is no different than a signed jersey or helmet, but now he gets a piece of the action. Sidebar: You're going to see Musicians doing with their Album cover art in the future.

100%....this is something that the Clemson staff, administration and team needs to be open to and embrace. Having a person in the PAW journey to educate about the NFT, Blockchain and companies like HUMBL will only help our players in the future and will, without a doubt, give us a competitive edge in recruiting.

Thank you for that explanation. I'd read it and still had no clue. Hopefully the article can incorporate your explanation for the ones like me who are 70's and technology challenged. Thanks again.

Thank you for very succinctly clearing that up.

The original article WAS confusing to most readers, and
of course many jumped to the wrong conclusion. Those
knee-jerk reactions are what keeps me from posting
until I know the facts.

Well done!

Maybe the Clemson staff, administration, and team need you to explain it all to them. Thank you for educating us!

Still a bit confused but that’s more on me and not your explanation lol. Sounds like Trevor is getting paid. Thanks for the explanation and keep that kind of info coming if you can!

Here's a way our staff could sell leverage NFT's where everyone benefits.

Clemson Media hires a photographer to take pictures of Clemson athletes (we probably already have them). Let's say that photographer (who is on a salary) is tasked with taking action shots and those pictures are 70% owned by the athlete, 10% the University, 10% the football program and 10% the photographer (just spitballing the ownership groups here).

Those images are uploaded to a gallery online (like HUMBL) for Clemson fans to bid on as an auction.

Imagine what this picture of Justin Ross, with his signature, would have fetched in an Auction?

I charge for my fandom. If Etienne doesn't want me to boo him or talk bad about him on social media. He ll have to send me $50.

Nothing personal it's just business.

Pay up Trevor!

From what it looks like crypto will be MySpace

Dec 16, 2021, 10:41 PM

It’s what paved the path and will eventually die to allow digital currency like NFT’s to take over the world.

Crypto = MySpace
NFT = Facebook, Twitter

NFT's don't exist without Ethereum, which is a Crypto Currency.

sounds like Ethereum might be a bargain at $4k***

Technically they don’t exist without blockchain platforms which Ethereum is one of and ETH is its currency.

Agree with your assessment but fully expect this to be used for team selection through crowdfunding in the future. Could even see every team having their own DAO or similar.

Great explanation, thank you for taking the time to help the rest of us understand a little bit better.

This just is another example why Clemson will not be able to complete in the new NIL era. Clemson is too small of a school and lacks a large, wealthy alumni base compared to some other larger schools.

In essence what Trevor ETN is doing is creating a bidding war, and Clemson will never win in the new era of bidding for players. It’s sad and unfortunate but Clemson is going to suffer significantly from the NIL.

Re: About Trevor Etienne and HUMBL

Dec 17, 2021, 6:54 AM

Yeah but will Clemson “prevent” all other photogs from covering sporting events so only the approved one can get action shots? It would be a very rare case other media outlets would want to pay every time they use a pic - I believe they would just go with what their staff photog shot. Maybe some fans would pay for one players particular moment but I doubt enough would to make them wealthy. The NBA is trying block chain for their players and trading cards etc but I believe there will be too many other action images in the public domain for NFTs to have a whole lot of value.

Thanks for the explanation and it sounds like it may be a good way for the players to cash in on NIL. I’m an older (and old school) guy that prefers cash and hard copies of pictures to cryptocurrencies and digital photos that I can’t put my hands on. I don’t even like PayPal and Venmo and whatever else makes your money disappear into cyberspace. Thank goodness my kids can help me through the instances where there is no other option.

HMBL stock is garbage

Dec 17, 2021, 9:53 AM

It was a textbook pump and dump

Look at its historical chart. 40 cents per share today. Yeah its killing it.

Buy in when it hits 0.01 per share if you like but it will still probably lose $$$

thanks for the explanation... but, i still don't like it. all these money making opportunities is only gonna make "commitment" and "education" a thing of the past. it's all about money, now. the players are gonna focus more on making money than anything, else.

how long will it be before the players aren't even required to be actual students of the university? they'll just play for the university. and, whichever university offers them the most opportunities to make money, is the one they choose. we're getting closer and closer to drafting players outta high school like the nfl does college to keep it, somewhat, balanced.

No enforcement mechanism = extreme risk. Until courts begin to uphold NFTs as property rights, it is all just supposition. Lots of patent and copyright attorneys to fight to get there.
