and the answers aren't always "trust Dabo." No offense, but that isn't the answer to every question there is.

If you think about it, you’ll realize that’s really all you can do. It’s not like you can fire Dabo because he’s not giving you the answers you want. Unless this is Graham Neff’s account.

*This
Its called hire good people and get out of their way. They get to pick their staff (save for when they might be coming in or promoted new), not their "employer". Dabo is the one we hired. We hired him for his skillset and now experience.
It isn't a thing about "thinking" or being a "thinking man" but you also have to take things to the logical conclusion if not "trusting dabo". It isn't a cop out.
First, if you don't trust your "employee" - why would they be your employee? If you don't trust dabo, they ultimately the solution is that Dabo is no longer "the guy" and that is a vastly different discussion. At that point, it isn't about Dabo but rather about the next guy. You better be 110% sure of your next move otherwise you become a Coots situation.... which is what they do from Carlen to Beamer.... to the complete lack of housekeeping staff.
I see it as no different that Brad Brownell. Either you trust him as your guy or you dont. If you dont, then you need to be thinking about who is the "next guy" and be ready to land the "next guy".
Being a thinking man is about the next move, not the current move. You trust the current move, you think about the "next move". Dabo as even an interim was the "next guy" for post-TB. Our coordinators were the "next guy" and those moves were made in 2015-2017.

Again, "thinking" is about the future decisions. Trust is about current decisions. And this is especially about a marriage. One can disagree and still have trust.
And no, an employment situation is not exactly the same as a marriage but some principles about thinking and trust apply. The "next wife" is a bit of a strawman here as the nature of the relationship is different. However, as any relationship benefits from both trust, planning, and insight/thought.

in terms of how we have performed relative to preseason expectations.
As the head coach, that falls on Dabo, yes?
I’m certainly not arguing that we shouldn’t trust him, but this year is a good example of how he possibly made some less than ideal decisions, don’t you think?

not even Dabo.
we "trusted" Dabo with roster management and he dropped the ball.............that doesn't mean that he should be fired, but he needs to fix it.

I agree with you Judge. It shows Dabo is only human. You can’t have it go the way you want it all the time. But just like when we were at our worst, I trust Dabo will turn things around. Plus, if we get 10 wins on our down year… gah lee, that’s an accomplishment for our players and coaches and a testament to their will to win and urge to make an ending statement. Most teams would love to be Clemson… like our sister southeast from us.

Yes, for instance, How did Dabo not see the problems that DJ was having ahead of time and come up with a better resolution scenario ??

From what we saw at ND to what we saw early in the season, when were you going to see a young kid get in his own head? That isn't just DJ. The whole passing game was off and utterly broken. Sure it started with DJ and his slow reading-overthinking but also the WR did not help either.
I disagree with Judge. From an expectation side, we have been pulling read-made freshmen and sophomores off the shelf and winning (nattie). This time it was "only" 9-3. Considering only the Pitt game was truly out of reach, we were one OT from the ACC champ. Close but not quite. I am proud of our guys and Dabo is right about playing and sticking with the guys you invest in.
Keep in mind that if Fired Meyer went 8-5 post tebow at UF.

He's the head coach. End of. In an ideal system it's collaborative approach and Dabo gives the coordinators freedom to both run their schemes as they see fit and allow them to push back and challenge him as he coaches. But again, he's the head coach, so trust in Dabo.

I'd like to know what you're asking.
But I do know sometimes posters enjoy banting about questions/ideas. I think that's fun. While many others immediately take offense and assume you're not a true Clemson fan.

I have no clue if his staff decisions will work out or not. Neither do the negative nellies or butt kissers on here.
I’d just assume Dabo be our coach than anyone else but to me it’s embarrassing to go in worship mode like some. I hated it when Danny was fired but the worship factor was a factor in why Clemson football was average for the next 20 years.
As a matter of fact, the same folks who only have the ability to type “your a coot “ or something stupid like that are the same ones who will be blasting Dabo saying he wasn’t ALL-IN or will be jumping off buildings when he leaves here. Let him go to Alabama, which I think he eventually will, and see how much they worship Dabo then.
No one wants to win more than me, but I ain’t worshiping no coach , because 99% of the time it ends badly.

You basically have 2 sides

Those who question basically everything. Coaching hires, play calling, roster management, recruiting, portal, personnel decisions, etc.
And those who think the greatest coach in our history knows what he's doing because he has proven himself.
It's not worship. It's acknowledgment he knows what he's doing.
The problem after Danny wasn't Danny worship, it was back to back poor coaching hires in Hatfield and West. I don't call Bowden a poor hire, as he at least moved the program forward.

Bowden probably wasn’t a terrible hire but he had taken the program as far as he could and when he got an extension, for the rumor that Arkansas wanted him , that’s when you question the AD intelligence

Dabo has NEVER showed me that he isn’t in control of our football program.
We saw the team make a great turn around this year under his guidance. With all the changes in college athletics every coach will be pressed to handle these situations. I assure you that Dabo will do it better than anyone.

What else can a person choose?
1. Trust Dabo. 2. Don't trust Dabo.
In any case, one would come to a conclusion that boils down to their conclusion about Dabo based on their observations of how he has acted in the past and is acting now. Is he worthy of trust or not? It's nothing more than an opinion.
