You never know what is going to happen when you start toying with something that has been successful for so long. There can be a price to pay when the money, power, and the dissolving of the personal experience occurs. While college football has not been perfect, it has had a personal appeal that professional sports cannot. You grew up a fan. You attended the school. You invested in it. It really is YOUR team. NASCAR is the perfect example of what happens when you kick the foundation away from something that has been sturdy, dependable...and ours.
