A revelation

"Brownell says Tigers have to recruit better"

I've been saying something similar since year two of the Brownell era. I've been saying "Brownell has to recruit better".

So he has had a revelation in year what? Bu the way, caught a lot of hell for saying that so early. But all you had to do was be willing look at the caliber.

Just watch a Big10 game. A mediocre Michigan looks more athletic and talented than what we see from the majority of ACC teams, and Clemson is near the bottom of a less than stellar ACC.

I'm not sure why you think this is newsworthy.

Brownell says this about once or twice per season when they go on a losing streak to try to explain away the losses.

File it in the same category as: we were rusty from our layoff, our legs were dead from back to back games, and we need a better effort on the defensive end.

I'm sure there are others that those who pay closer attention could recite, but these are the ones I have noticed when little more than a passing glance at Brownell interviews and pressers.

I get that, but (my opinion that's all) I feel like anything/ anyone that blames the players for a coaches failure is classless. We need to recruit better says that my players aren't good enough. That means that (a) he can't get the players that he needs and (b) he can't develop (and keep) the ones that he does get. Either way it's more evidence that BB needs to go.

While I will tend to agree with you on most of your comments, I take exception to one. These players are good enough, if you are recruiting "athletes" .Oliver Purnell was good at recruiting "athletes" who could run up and down the court with anybody, but seemed to have very little idea of how to play basketball.
Brad has the same problem. He can't recruit "basketball" athletes, basketball talent .P.J. Hall might be one of the exceptions to that rule, but 1 player won't be able to go up and down the court night in and night with 2 or 3 basketball players.

This has been the same year after year. Always got to recruit better. It has never changed. If that had been Dabo saying that now, we would have a different coach.

I agree, it is NOT the players FAULT. The blame relies on the COACH. 100%.
