A new ACC wrinkle

Jul 1, 2022, 11:21 AM

Do you think there is any truth to the reporting that the ACC is changing it’s payout model? In other words, Clemson has invested in football unlike some other conference schools and will get a bigger share of the football money. If this is true, will this be a good solution for Clemson?

Where are you seeing this? Interesting, as it was tried by the B12, but didn't work in the end.

No, that will only return Pennie’s on the dollar. As far as revenue goes the ACC is a third world country.

Over time, time like the next 36 months, everything we now see in college athletics will be historical relics.
Football will be a stand alone enterprise not connected in any way to basketball, former conferences and "tradition".
College football will separate totally from the NCAA with new rules and governance. It will more resemble the NFL with a natiinal commissioner chosen by the 60-odd members.
Basketball will likely follow and go stand alone as well.
The weak will tend toward intramural status and the survivors will thrive with billion$ media agreements.
Every future decision (eligibility, scheduling, on and on) related to the game will be founded on what is best for boosting eyeballs and revenue. Yes, it will be a new form of professional sports, if it is not already.

Title IX implications will come to an end as well when the football players are classified as university employees. Most schools will drop just about all women's varsity sports. Sure there will be club level sports but university support will dry up for a lot of the non revenue producing sports.

Still wonn't make up for the fact that

you are not in a power conference and are in a group of level conference. It would be like being a strong team in the Mountain West, or American.
