A lot of peoples have favorite games from the Clemson / USuk

Nov 22, 2022, 12:11 PM

rivalry, for many different reasons. My personal favorite is 2014, for SEVERAL different reasons.

1) Our win in 2014 stopped their Five Bomb streak at Five.
2) Our win in 2014 began OUR current streak of SEVEN in a row and counting.
3) Our win in 2014 restored the Natural Order of Things in the state of South Carolina in college football.

And, last, but certainly not least:

4) Our win in 2014 was an on film, verified example of a one legged man actually WINNING an a$$ kicking contest!

Now, Clemson has had two streaks of seven in a row in the rivalry. But, never has EITHER school won EIGHT in a row. So, we are once again going for history Saturday. GO, TIGERS!

1977 - hands down! As I recall it was a night game at their place. We had 'em 17-0 at the half.
First possession of the 2nd half, we scored again making it 24-0. We were all relaxed and yuking it up.
Then they started their come-back. They kept scoring until they had us 27-24 with just a few minutes to
go. No more yuking. We were down. Then with seconds to go, we got the ball. Steve Fuller went into
the huddle and said "OK boys we are going in! Right down the field we went to our delight. Then from about the 20, Fuller hit Jerry Butler in the endzone. Jerry leaped, caught it, and fell backwards in paydirt. That, my friends, was "THE CATCH"! We snatched victory from their grubby little chicken hands. 31-27!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's got to be one of the best pics of any rivalry!

I know the brawl was a stain on the series history, but what big rivalries don't have them? They just didn't get the epic, conquering photo out of it like we did!

You couldn't do it in todays PC Snowflake climate, but

the Head of Cocky would be a great trophy to capture once and put in the Clemson display case every year during rivalry week. Nothing would be more pathetic than a headless chikin in a dress running around the field.

2001 The 100th game at home. I was 11. It was my first Clemson-USuCk game. Of course we won it and of course I became addicted to chicken kicken.

UMMM, Clemson lost in 2001. 2001 was sandwiched between two 4 game win streaks for the Tigers.***

I’ve got to agree with you. The 2014 season was the first time I started to really pay attention. I was in middle school and had going to Clemson games, but wasn’t really a big “fan.” We lost to FSU in overtime. During that game something just clicked. We played Louisville and needed a goal line stand—that was when I REALLY felt it. The win against USC meant a ton to me then and really started our trend to being an elite program. Plus Watson was on one leg and still destroyed them

2003, 63-17.

Whitehurst dropping bombs into their hollow secondary. Ben Hall carrying Gamecocks. Aluminum. "Touchdown Clemson. Touchdown, Chad Jasmin."

The guy behind me at the game said, "How can this be happening? We're so much more talented than they are!"

1989 45-0 in Billy Brice. A very fine vintage for chicken kicking! My senior year. Last regular season game as a student. Had a ball in Columbia that night.

The 1st Orange britches game.

I was a sophomore at Clemson and my brother was a senior in Columbia.

He, and 4 or 5 of his friends, called me on Wednesday prior to the game to let me know just how badly they were going to beat us. I let them talk for a while and finally said...so anyone want to bet on the game? Complete silence. I was going to ask them to give me a touchdown or so but I saw my opening and started yelling into the phone...NOBODY? you call me to tell me what your team is going to do to my team, and no one is willing to back it up with anything. You guys are a joke...They hung up prior to my going much further.

I called his apartment, collect, after the game. He refused to accept charges.

Spme of favorites 1977-the catch
1980-orange pants
1981-perfect ending to the regular season
1989-45-0
2014-end of their streak
2016-beatdown

Just a few of my favorite that I attended.
