I don't give a care who the athlete is. Which school is it?

The term "NIL collective" sounds scary. But when you think about it, the concept seems like a very logical development. The athlete better have good representation that can read the fine print.

Where in the world is this NIL thing going to be in 4-5 years?

Might has well call it pro sports at this point

why the charade?

Makes him ineligible for HS football

I think

Plus this is actually against the rules. All the promises of NIL deals are kept verbal and discreet until an athlete signs. If he signed an NIL contract that says he will attend A&M, it’s a definite violation.

Arch Manning? Maybe it’s going to be for those Caesar commercials

As expected

I remember when I first thought NIL would be a good thing. There was a punter at UCF like maybe 6 years ago that had this really obscure YouTube channel where he would talk about punting. He would mention that he was the punter for UCF. And the NCAA brought the hammer down on him. It was either lose your scholarship or lose the YouTube channel.

I thought that was messed up. Dude was probably making like $38 a year.

But when the NIL legislation started making the rounds, many people could see the future: The end of college athletics and the birth of an NFL minor league system (minus, of course, any sort of salary cap or player arbitration).

Well, here we are boys! This is the NEW wild west. There are no real rules. The guy with the biggest checkbook wins 100% of the time. And your school spirit and school pride can just go sit in the corner and sulk. Welcome to the future!

You are correct. Steve Wiltfong also just dropped a crystal ball for him to Tennessee.

"I love this place, I've got a spot already picked out where I want 'em to put me when I die - up there on that ole hill near the stadium. I want to be there so I can hear all them people cheering my Tigers on Saturdays; then I won't have to go Heaven; I'll already be there."- Frank Howard

So long college football.***

I'm afraid Tennessee is fixing to BUY them a good team.
