77 on scholarship, 4 of them are kickers/ punters....

This 25 signing getting lifted is going to hurt us big time....
If you can't manage a roster signing 25 per class for a total of 85, come on.
We have 77 scholarship players, 4 of them are kickers/punters, so that is 73 out of 85 scholarship players before the season even starts. We are 15% down before we even start the season. I know Dabo saves some scholarships for walk-ons that deserve it. I love that.... But... not for 10% of your allotted scholarships.
Potter, XT and HJ are super-seniors that the scholarship counts. Drew Swinney is on scholarship. There might be a few missing that are coming this summer like that RB.
I trust Dabo with all my heart, and in the end, he will come out on top once this NIL and transfer portal situation get straightened out. But we have this year, but the next few years after that might be rough.
Just looking at our scholarship breakdown, if we don't hit big on DT, DE, RB, WR, LB and Safety with studs ready to play as true freshman on day one, its going to be rough.
I might be wrong, but when you click on the football tab and look at the scholarship breakdown. It jumps out at you. And its not just that we missed out on some guys... that happens every year. And I am happy these young men are getting paid but Dabo's take on the issues is absolutely correct. And the portal too.

Agree. Unless the tab is wrong, what gives. Someone else posted a portal article and a response was Dabo didn't have slots because we were at near capacity of 85. There's no reason not to be At full capacity.

I wasn't being critical of Dabo from not being at 85, what I meant was why lift the 25 class cap. I know they are doing it b/c teams are getting hit hard like we were from the transfer portal, but the lifting of the 25 class cap limit by the NCAA will hurt us the most b/c of how we recruit.
Another poster commented on teams signing 30-40 and if they have to make room, forcing the non-performers to transfer.
It will all even out in the end, but what I am saying is after this year, it might be a couple of rough years. But I know Dabo will stay true to himself, his players, his staff and the University... And even if it is a rough year down the road, I will cheer just as loud and be just as proud as I was when he won 2 Nattys.
Its easy to be a fan when we win a Natty.... Were you a fan in 1998 when we were 3-8? Thats how you know if you are a true fan. That's why I like the Judge so much. He always has Clemson B-ball's back...

Count the ones who used the covid year to play this year.

Only ones we have left are HJ, XT and BT Potter. Their scholarships count towards our 85.

I’m not the smartest cat, but if you allow players to play and extra year, then those scholarships shouldn’t count towards the 85. If you do that will screw up your recruiting cycle at some point class wise. Key positions will miss out on recruiting those positions and the team pays the price in the next few years. Add in guys that turn pro after three years and recruiting had to be a nightmare. Now with NIL, it is really crazy.

Not to mention the supply chain issues and cost increases! How is one to plan for these things? I have to do it for my job. I am sure the coaches can figure it out too. Now, maybe they will do a poor job, but we won't really know until a couple seasons from now. I am thinking Dabo is figuring he can ride out the storm until some authority steps in and fixes all this NIL and transfer mess. It's a gamble, but maybe worth it to keep his integrity intact.

Potter, XT, and KJ are not super seniors.
All 3 are 5th year seniors, along with Mascoll and McFadden. They are the last remaining players from that 2018 recruiting class. Super seniors are 6th year guys. We have none of them this year.
But, you are correct about our urgency in needing to hit big time on DEs, DTs, LB, and RB. We cannot afford another year like 2022 where we sign guys late in the process that will need time to develop. Not at those four positions. We will need guys that are ready to contribute in the opener.
