75% Morris.....25% Venables....

Morris - ONE 15-20 pass to Seckinger in the 2nd half....ONE. I understand pressure was on our QB....go 5 wide and roll out....DO SOMETHING. QB draw is fine....just not on every 3 out of 5 plays. And ps - on the famous bubble screen - WR's BLOCK SOMEONE
Venables - Guess what....Ga has running backs....and a TE. Sell out on the run and make the untested QB beat us-(hint: see Ga def. gameplan). Put a backer or safety spying on the TE. Base D wasn't getting it done.

Sorry but the defense held up for three quarters. When the offense is not on the field, the defense gets tired. And when the other team has a stable of NFL backs like UGA does, that's when they hurt you. 3 and outs for two full quarters killed our defense.

until we stopped it , we never adjusted.
Their TE sealed the corner. Their wideout held the corner just enough to not allow our backers get to them on the edge.
Nothing magical. Same play , rinse and repeat.
Do something - send em all and see if they'll try and hit on our DBs..... we did not change our scheme at all in the 2nd half it looked like, and neither did Ga....but then again, they didn't have to.

The Seahawks defense wouldn't have held up under those circumstances

Our offense killed our defense, it's as simple as that. There's not a defense in the country that could have kept stopping them in that situation, people look at the 4th and throw the defense under the bus but go look at the stats for the rest of the game, look how long the defense was on the field the second half, unless you plan on playing superman at linebacker the flash at corner and batman on the line then you're going to get the same result every time. You cannot win against an offense like that leaving your defense out there all the time and with awful field position every time too.

UGA went with two wideouts in one offensive set. I can't remember if it was at the end of the half or early in the 2nd. It looked like a cover 0 or maybe cover 1 where the safety came crashing down as soon as he saw it was a run. Pretty sure that was a -3 yard gain by Marshall. I don't think we ever went back to that defense again.

can't put much on venables........

his Defense gave up 17 points through 48 minutes of the game. When your offense gains ONE 1st down and 15 total yards in the 2nd half it's only a matter of time..........you can only hold so long.
I NEVER expected to win in athens this year. Not with a 1st year starter at QB and replacing so many weapons at WR/RB.
the biggest concern i have is not "can morris coach anymore".............it's our TALENT level at runningback.......our current "1 & 2" running backs aren't gonna cut it........no offense to them, but they just aren't very good.
and while i'm not surprised our Oline looks like it does every year...............eh

while cole stoudt didn't do anything to lose the game..............i was dissapointed to not see watson come back out there after his PERFECT TD drive.
i guarantee you if you got morris aside and asked him off the record who he wants at QB.......he'd say watson. I think Dabo is loyal to a fault with these veteran guys.
but it's obvious the talent difference in our two QBs........watson's got it.

i agree with that....i didn't say he had no blame for this

but i also know field position had a lot to do with that along with obvious lack of talent in key positions ie RB, Oline, & QB to a certain extent.
while the play calling was very conservative, i believe the biggest mistake of the coaches was not changing up the personnel IN ORDER TO change the play calling.
toward the end when it was obvious nothing was working
throw in choice or gallman put watson back in (while the game is still reachable) try a bump sweep pass (or whatever that's called) to scott or kitt rather than humphries

against us....
We crawled in our shell.
And as far as special teams go....true...they need 15%....
Morris - 60% Venables - 25% SP Teams - 15%
Why isn't every 2nd/3rd string DE and LB and Safety on KO return coverage ?
Boulware types who want to move up the food chain.....who live to blow someone up.

What's the percentage for the HORRIBLE OLine play in
Sep 2, 2014, 10:55 AM

the second half? That had a lot to do with it as well. Hard to do anything when their DL is destroying the OL and the QB is running or on his butt after 1.5-2.0 seconds every single play.
I will agree, that Morris didnt make playcalling adjustments to counter their overly aggressive defense.

Pruitt rarely had Defensive lineman in the game on 3rd and long. He opted for an all out speed blitz in virtually everyone of those situations. Bringing in the DBs to take away the short pressure relieving throws that Stoudt obviously prefers. I'm quite honestly shocked and disappointed in the lack of adjustment in the game.

Our Defense gave up 17 points through 3 quarters. If you knew that would be the case before saturday you'd have been very confident that we would win.
Our Offense lost the game 100% for both sides of the ball.

Dabo gets no blame?
The time of possession was right around 30 min a piece, even though it seemed the defense was on the field the whole second half. Chad Morris clearly didn't have confidence in Stoudt or he would have called plays down the field in the second half.
Georgia rushed 41 times for 330 yds. Clemson rushed 44 times for 95 yds.
Having a rb like Gurley to carry the load down the stretch is a huge advantage. It's clear we don't have a running back who can run the ball between the tackles for first downs when we need them.
