A great game ruined by referees.

Feb 13, 2022, 10:01 PM

Hate to see refs determine the outcome of a game.

Is that it isn't consistent with how they'd been calling the game to that point

The refs would have determined the outcome of the game either way. The Bengals were only up because they missed Tee's facemask. It's very unlikely Burrow could have won the game without it. He had basically no yards outside of the two deep balls. At least with the PI, they still had the chance to stop LA, unlike the TD.

Yeah. Cinn had a hard fought, respectable season, but I also felt Cinn got away with several PI no calls earlier in the game .

Ramsey had gotten away with a blatant hold on Tee on what should have been his first TD.

In watching the NFL you could probably call a PI on one or the other every pass play. About like holding for the OL. Someone is doing it on every play.

Nah,, you can break down the film on any game and

Feb 14, 2022, 2:17 AM

see maybe a half dozen players that screw up on every single play. Every play. There's probably hundreds over the course of a full 60 minute game. But no, we zero in on a single call and declare that decided the game. Never mind the other 100 missed assignments....

The point is either call it tight the entire game or let them play. Don’t decide that you are going to start doing your job on one of the most critical drives of the game. Yes, they missed calls on both sides. Just be consistent in either not calling or calling the penalties. . .or better yet just work for the full three hours and quit taking a 2 hour and 55 minute dinner break.

Disagree

Other than Tee getting away with face mask pull, I thought they did a great job.
Good article on ESPN discussing the refs and why it “appeared” they changed.
They start out “letting them play” and not calling tickle tack fouls.
Fine.
Then fans claim the end of the game - they change.
But what really happened is the players see that the refs are not calling much, and start trying to get away with more - thus now the refs have been forced into calling the more obvious fouls. Each penalty was correct.
I thought they (refs) did a nice job. Did not even call things like knocking Donald around when he was on sideline.

first PI on the scoring drive? Really? Barely contact let alone a PI in the NFL.

I would say if Boyd doesn’t drop the pass on 3rd and 9, then the Rams are likely needing atleast 7 with less time on the clock. The Bengals had their chances and didn’t get it done.
