35 yrs old, unvaccinated, Type 1 Diabetic

Aug 3, 2021, 3:28 PM

I tested positive for Covid-19 today. I’m guessing it is the variant because I got Covid-19 last year???

The nurses told me that there is no way to show if it is a variant or the original Covid-19, so my question is this:

When Soywalker was saying that all the people admitted to the ICU that tested positive for the variant were unvaccinated…. How did he know it was the variant?

So far I have felt like I have a mild flu, bad cold. I’ll keep y’all posted.

Re: 3 times is the charm?

Few things just to interject. Chuckston, quick being a *ick. You sound pathetic. If he doesn't want to get the vaccine he doesn't have to. People who have had covid do produce longstanding antibodies to help fight future infection. There is something to be said about natural immunity. Check out this from Emory. https://news.emory.edu/stories/2021/07/covid_survivors_resistance/index.html

In Chucks defense, latest research shows that the vaccine MAY (yes it's still up for debate) produce a more broad defense to various strains due to how it builds immunity to the spike proteins. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34103407/

With that being said, hope you feel better and recover quickly. Lets stop arguing....football season is around the corner.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Correct. Which is why I asked him if an actual doctor told

Aug 3, 2021, 4:18 PM

him that his natural immunity was better than getting having Covid and getting the vaccine. His is not a statement that one should throw out without some basis in fact.

I just heard two doctors on the radio say

Aug 3, 2021, 4:22 PM [ in reply to Correct. Which is why I asked him if an actual doctor told ]

if you have recovered from the virus…do NOT get the vaccine.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Here’s an interesting peer-reviewed study,

Aug 3, 2021, 5:12 PM

that suggests natural immunity derived from a mild covid case presents a similar quantity of antibodies as a single mRNA vaccine dose. Further, two doses of an mRNA vaccine are similar in antibody production to a severe natural infection.

It goes on to suggest that individuals with prior natural Covid infection can boost levels to the high end of a severe infection by administering a single dose.

TL;DR, there could be some vaccination benefit for those with prior natural infection.

Well, me and 40 other 7th graders got type 1 diabetes in the state of SC when they forced everyone to take the Hep B and Mumps/measles vaccine in 1998. My family has no history of diabetes (even tho that doesn’t really apply to Type 1). All the 12 yr olds that got the shot got the same symptoms within 10 days of the 2 vaccines being given.

Exactly. The fact there's still sheep out there that haven't realized it was a scam and a hoax from day one is simply frightening. And even worse, they actually believe it's a "vaccine"...suppose this is natural selection at its best. The world's greatest PsyOp and 97% of the people (sheeple) failed. Now the sheeple have lined up to be lab rats for e deadly experimental shot...that's not FDA approved. It's an experimental and highly deadly shot - don't believe me, do your own research, the fact that people still watch and believe their TV is frightful. More people have died form the deadly ab in its first 4 months than ALL VACCINES COMBINED, OVER THE PAST 20 YEARS COMBINED. FACT. What happened to the flu btw?? LOL, it's all right there and I swear this has been a test to see who are the truly indoctrinated, programmed, and brain washed sheep, and who is still actually able to think for themselves.

I was taught at Clemson that when you site such facts you should also provide links or citations of your original source(s). Can you go ahead and post links to the scholarly articles you read that state this fact?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

May be a taking things a little too far off the deep end...

Aug 3, 2021, 4:31 PM [ in reply to Re: 35 yrs old, unvaccinated, Type 1 Diabetic ]

but I'd love to know how different all of this would be viewed had it not happened in an election year with such an emotion-drawing president, the other social news topics of 2020 and modern social media. What if this was 2001 pre-9/11 George Bush and he came out saying how serious it was, got the vaxx and there was alot of bipartisan agreement on it.

We'd see something different....thats my hypothesis. Responses by and large are so politically rooted.

At the end of the day, by and large vaccines work and the results are proving so for those who never had Covid. Now, if you've had Covid, the Cleveland Clinic did a big study saying if you had Covid then the vaxx doesn't help at all...but no idea how that plays against the variant.

It is a variant. Original covid-19 does not exist now

Aug 3, 2021, 6:39 PM

in people, except in our vaccines or in labs. That's how he knew it's "the" variant. I'd bet my next paycheck it's delta or a delta subvariant, B.117, or P.1. That covers 99% of what's going around SC now, ALL "VARIANTS". Delta alone is 90%+ of new cases sequenced. If you are put in ICU, maybe they sequence your virus sample, I dunno.

So if you want to know if you have a "variant", 100% chance. Original covid-19 is a zero chance. Delta, 90%+ chance. Delta subvariant, about a 5% chance. B.117, about 5% as well. Heck, I'd put my next paycheck on some flavor of delta, forget B.117. And I would bet you my entire life savings it's not the original Wuhan covid, or any one of those 13 original Wuhan strains.

Here's a good website to follow variants. Good to see what's floating around your area, and other states, countries. AY3 and AY3.1 are our own homegrown USA delta strains.

https://outbreak.info/location-reports?loc=USA_US-SC&selected=AY.1&selected=AY.2&selected=AY.3&selected=AY.3.1&selected=B.1.617.2&selected=B.1.1.7
