Here is the per game stats of the 3 players that transferred.
- John Newman: 15 minutes, 3.7 points, 1 assist
- O-Max: 10 minutes, 2.5 points, .3 assist
- Lynn Kidd: 4.7 minutes, 1.1 points, .1 assist
The only player that would have potentially started this upcoming year is O-max and that wasn’t guaranteed. It certainly sucks for the long term losing kidd and o-max but this doesn’t really hurt us next year. We just need to sign a competent back up center to replace Kidd. If we do that, I think we have actually upgraded our team next year. This also gives brownell time to find players to replace them long term.
If PJ Hall lives up to his rating, he will be our C for the next 3 years and that is fine with me.

If Monte had better hitters we'd be talking about an Omaha trip this year. If we'd scored one goal in men's Soccer, we'd most likely been in the cup. Point being, one can if til infinity.
Known facts, we're not good baseball or basketball programs right now. What changes that... Above my paygrade. DRad thinks we're ok and I'll pull for the TIGERS whenever they play. I believe it was @tigerlinks that stated it best under the DRad thread.

So, are you saying that the two signed last year and were 4 stars - were not good and could not be developed?
Or are you saying it is hard to get developed when the coach does not play you?
Or are you saying BB does not play an inside game and he should simply quit recruiting inside players because the last 3 seven footers have all transferred out?

No I did not say any of that.
I said in the short term, as in next year, these 3 transfers didn’t really hurt us all that much.
In the long term it sucks because I believe o-max and Kidd would have been good players for us. Luckily for us, we have over a year to find their replacements. In the short term, it doesn’t hurt us too bad. Because none of them would have been starters and we have already found replacements for 2 of 3.
Collins > Newman
Bohanan and o-max are probably a wash going into next year.
Now we need to find a competent back up center. I really hope we can find a donnall type player.

Trapp, a starter, also transferred.
Two of those guys were freshmen, part of the good recruiting class, which was a sign of progress. At least, that’s what we were sold last off season.
Young, talented players leaving is not a positive sign.

Yes I agree. That recruiting class was a sign of progress. It sucks thay 2 of 3 have transferred.
However, we picked up Bohanan. I can’t be certain, but I think he is an upgrade over o-Max for next year. We have time to replace o max long term. Why don’t we wait until we see who we can sign? We lost a back up center. Let’s see if we can sign a better back up center.

Trying to spin this into a positive;
1. One time transfer has hit us,
2. Players see more talented players in front of them,
3. We are upgrading .. Bohanan (Youngstown St) for O-max (4 star recruit)
4. Help me out ... there’s more spin.
This ain’t good in year 11.

I never said losing kidd and o-max is a net positive. Especially not in the long run. However I don’t think it has a huge impact on us next year. Especially if we can find a Kidd replacement.

like it has basketball. We are going to lose our share of football transfers, and I can guarantee the same people saying that good coaches shouldn’t lose transfers now will be saying that Dabo knows what he’s doing and that it’s not a big deal.
