2023 Power RBs Should Take Note

Jul 4, 2022, 4:26 PM

of the OLs that Thomas Austin is recruiting and do some research on who Thomas Austin is and what he did in his playing career at Clemson.

Thomas is building an OL of absolute brutes that will open the biggest holes in the run game than we've seen for a long time. I have waited many years to see the sort of talent at OL that he's putting together.

Given the quality of D we have, the QB talent and hopefully a resumption of WR talent with an improvement at TE, the RB position at Clemson should be a gold mine for a fast, power RB.

C'mon fellas...... get on the train!

Good thing is there's plenty of time to flip one. Kinda shocked that fella committed to the coots over us vs recently missing on Cobb.

Well, one or two good OLs can maybe slide by without too much notice, but on the third one in the same class, you've gotta believe that something has changed at Clemson and there's going to be a feast for a RB going forward.

We've crossed an OL intersection and as long as Thomas Austin is in the saddle, I don't think there'll be any turning back. This look to me like an inflection point for the Clemson OL (and offense) - and any RB that gets on board should have a great career.

We may yet have that smash-mouth HUNH offense that Chad Morris wanted. In the past, we couldn't get the OL fire-power, but now we have it.

Let's go! Use these guys as power pancake blockers and take no prisoners!

Braswell? We weren’t really involved as all our eggs were in the Cobb basket. For some reason we have chosen to just take RB recruiting one at a time and wait until they say no. It has hurt us the last two classes but hopefully we can find one late or flip one as you said.

Braswell never visited Clemson and Clemson never offered.

Maybe he will win The Heisman in Columbia ... who knows?

Better sign one this year else the 23 RBs will need to contribute as freshman which is problematic

If Shipley doesn't have the career of Spiller

Jul 4, 2022, 8:02 PM

or the season of a McCafferey, he would probably be better served to stay 4 years. Also, we should have Mafah for 4 years, so, a '24 RB won't have to be the man out of the gate but can get excellent playing time to be groomed for his 2nd season... it would behoove even blue chippers to consider this rather than being demanded to be RB1 from day 1.

You are counting on a best case scenario. The other side of this is we are one injury, one early out to the NFL and one transfer away from zero serviceable RBs.

Of course the portal is an option but we really need one Solid RB in this class

23 will be Shipley and Mafah’s 3rd year. Maybe this is why I haven’t been as concerned with RB recruiting as you have??

The good news is, the most important part of success on offense is the OL. With a great OL, the offense can take on whatever identity suits its personnel. A dominant OL can make a good RB look great and an elite RB look unstoppable.

Let's get Shipley and Pace both +1000 yards this season and you can bet they'll notice

So true, Columbia Tiger. Not since Wayne Mass and Harry Olziewlski, have we seen this kind of NFL talent at interior OL. This is a part of the puzzle that we have been missing. We overcame a lot with superior QB play in the past. Looks like we could start having both for a long time.

Wayne and "Big O" were exactly the duo I remember from when Clemson last had a real power run game.
