LE Aiken - Byers - Dodd

SS Kearse (OLB on mismatch WR or TE in situations)
FS Smith

2nd string

SS Wiggins
FS Geohagan

CB Blanks

CB Peters
CB Jenkins (martin)
CB Tankersley

2nd String

CB Baker
CB Johnson
CB Carter
CB Edmond
CB Green

LOLB Beasley
MLB Anthony
ROLB Steward

2nd String

LOLB Ogundeko - Burrell
MLB Jones/Boulware - Goodson -*Register
ROLB O'Daniel - Greenlee -*Rogers

* rotation possibility if avoid RS

This is just my opinion of what I would do with the talent we have next year on D. I changed a few positions due to the fact of us getting beat on the zone read. I also think Blanks performed better as a CB and Kearse is a star in making. Losing Cortez Davis hurt us because it sure would be nice to have two 6"5 safeties that can cover as well.

please let me know what you think. I'm not Dan Brooks, but I think this would work just nicely.

I'm a reader guy personally

Jan 29, 2014, 5:30 PM

This gets the most talent on the field but sometimes it is more important to make sure everyone gells together.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

i apologize

Jan 29, 2014, 5:35 PM

forgot about Pagano. Possibility of making 2nd string competing with Williams for DT

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah, let's take our best DE, possibly a 1st round pick

Jan 29, 2014, 5:35 PM

And move him....
Other than that I pretty much can see what you got working.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

i agree that it seems dumb

Jan 29, 2014, 5:42 PM

and it might be a good idea to keep him there for certain games. But these big running qbs, (WINSTON)kill us because our second level tacklers simply aren't big and powerful enough to stop them in their tracks. So would you agree to play him there as a spy 80% of his snaps when playing a large dual threat QB?

Re: i agree that it seems dumb

Jan 29, 2014, 6:00 PM

Well a lot of the problem with Shaw running all over us was that Beadley was in the back field so fast that it left a lane for him to run thru. Apparently several NFL scouts said the Beasley wasn't smart enough to actually hold his gap and contain, he just has speed and power to get to the QB. I'm not sure that isn't a coaching error.
I hate to say it, but UF contained Shaw and held them to 19 points, we didn't an they scored 31. Maybe your on to something, moving him backwards makes him slow down his rush and hang back to see what's happening. We did it with Branch for GT in 2010, and it worked well. But GT couldn't grow the ball to save their lives without D. Thomas, so he didn't have to pass cover much.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

that was my

Jan 29, 2014, 6:05 PM

thought process as well. back his fast ### up so by the time the QB starts to exit the pocket to run he isn't halfway down the field like he's running a track marathon. lol

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

TWO YARDS

Jan 29, 2014, 6:36 PM

Winston rushed for two yards in 7 attempts against us this year.

By all means - put our best rusher at linebacker to spy.

Winston won't run unless he has to. Get pressure on him.

BTW, WInston rushed for 2 yards in 7 rushes against us this year.

If we get the Saftey spot figure out

Jan 29, 2014, 5:39 PM

I think everything falls into place in front of it. There is certainly enough talent on this team.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Disagree with that

Jan 29, 2014, 5:47 PM

Don't recall many players breaking the tackles of our front seven all season. Think the real problem was teams trying to get us into nickle formations and running on them because our safties rarely came up to make plays.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Your list is awful and thank the gud lawd ur not a coach

Jan 29, 2014, 6:15 PM

You've got Anthony and Beasley as second stringers?! Wow! That is ridiculous. Have you been hibernating for years or did ya fall in a well?

I'm guessing you think the Broncos should bench Manning and go with a more "rangy" Osweiler, right.

You make Brownlee look like a coaching genius..... that is all.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If there's one thing you got right, it's that Beasley will not start.***

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Blanks is too slow to play safety

Jan 29, 2014, 6:34 PM

Much less CB!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If not Humphries, can we at least agree that younger, more talented

Jan 29, 2014, 6:40 PM

guys like kearse or blanks should be starting over smith? I say Blanks and Kearse all day at the safety spots. But wait, we don't actually play the best 11 so move Kearse to LB so smith can finish out his senior year as an average safety that costs us a few big scores and a playoff spot. Maybe get drafted bc he started for a top 15 ranked D (that would've been ranked top 5 with kearse/blanks playing his spot).

We need to start any mix of 3 natural LBs..... Dorian O'Daniel, Boulware, Jones, Anthony, Steward, Goodson, Rogers, Burrell... instead of trying to make Kearse learn a whole new craft (seeing how long it took him to actually come close to perfecting his current spot on D), which I don't think would be a smart move at all.

Smith lays the wood, but he was burned on a number of plays (when he knew where he was supposed to he), while Kearse was burned on a number of plays and had an excuse (he was a true frosh)

I would really hate to be an opposing QB.

If the O can grind it out a little more and hit some plays over the top, this will be a tough, tough team to beat.
