2009-10 Basketball Season video Highlights...

This is when Clemson Basketball was at the peak of relevance and interest. 4th straight 20 win seasons, ranked about 70 percent of time of three year period, domination of state rival of 6th straight wins, huge crowds and student support.

Those were some fun memories. Really sucked that those teams lost as a higher seed in the tourney 3 years in a row. With all that talent, we should have had way more ranked wins, and a few wins in the tourney.

Quick question....
You always boast about OP having 4 straight 20 win seasons like it's a huge accomplishment. It is certainly a good accomplishment. You are including a season where we started 17-0 and didn't make the tourney. This would be completely unacceptable if this was Brad and you know it.
If 4 straight 20 win seasons are really good as you claim, 3 20 win seasons in 5 years certainly isn't that bad is it? It's not that far off the mark, right?
Yes I am including the short covid year where we beat a record 8 ncaa tourney teams and made the tournament as a 20 win season. It certainly would have been, and it was way better than the 17-0 season under Purnell.

This makes Purnell one of the best coaches in Clemson basketball history - OP's last 4 years
4 straight 20 win seasons, 3 NCAA tourney appearances, 0 NCAA tourney wins, 5 ranked wins, 2 ACC Tourney wins, and 1 ACC tourney champ appearance
This makes brownell a horrible basketball coach that should be fired - BB's last 5 years
3 20 win seasons in 5 years, 2 NCAA tourney appearances, 2 NCAA tourney wins, 10 ranked wins, 2 ACC tourney wins, 0 ACC tourney champ appearance.

they were consistently ranked most of the time those three years. Not on again and off again like Brad. Brad had great success but has never has had consistent success. When he goes to back to back NCAATs, let me know?
Did you see the ESPN College Basketball Gameday. this was on 1/23/10 at 10AM when the basketball game wasn't till 8pm. Has Brad ever had that big of a crowd that early before a game? Has Littlejohn ever been ranked one of the top 10 toughest crowds to play before under Brad like OP by AE Sports? No...

We played 16 games in the 2009-10 season as a ranked team.
We have played 13 games as a ranked team the last 4 seasons under Brownell including 2 of the last 3 never being ranked at any point.

Clemson basketball fans are so weirdly infatuated by OP's press. Sure it was exciting a lot of the times. Sure OP did a great job building Clemson's program back.
Personally I would rather have a sweet 16 run and then a down but not bad year the next year, than go to the tourney twice in a row and get bounced.
How come you use his last 3 years when you say they were "consistently ranked most of the time" (it was actually 58% of the time. Still solid), but then use his last 4 years when spouting your 20 win season stat?

It’s not that we are infatuated with the press. It’s the energy and excitement about the program that existed during that time. Anyone trying to argue that Brownell has been close to matching that level is crazy. Essentially, every objective metric also backs that we were better.
There’s a reason why there’s always a full court press from Brownell apologists to try to ignore or invalidate what Purnell did. He was the predecessor, had the same institutional problems, and he performed better.

THIS is why I refuse to settle for Brownell ball. Once you’ve seen and experienced the basketball Clemson culture and fan frenzy like this it’s hard to settle for less.
