In 2015 and 2016, Kiffin led the charge. Then Brian Daboll in 2017 brought some really cool concepts from the New England Patriots.
2018 - Mike Locksley- Now this was the "all time best team" that Clemson killed, but this offense reminds me more of your basic RPO offense that Clemson runs. To me, 2018 offense with Tua was more about Bama "out-atheleting" teams like Clemson does. It was more of a one-read type deal and Venables snuffed out a few tendencies.
2019 and 2020 - Sark - Of course he's had good pieces, but to put his playmakers in space and allow freaking Mac Jones to succeed is just incredible. Not a shot at Mac, but he's no Trevor or Fields as far as talent goes. But wow, the way he used Smith all over the field, in the slot matched up against LBs, all night matched up against safeties... Just awesome stuff.
Circling back, Saban has brought all these different OC's and analysts in from the NFL to get all these different ideas. Meanwhile, we've had great continuity with Elliott and Streeter since 2014 "tangerine" bowl or whatever it was. But we've run basically the same zone read/RPO offense for 6 years. We stretch teams sideline to sideline but we just refuse to work the middle of the field, even with 2 of the greatest QBs to ever play college football.
I hope that we adapt. I'm not talking about firing Tony Elliott and bringing in someone with some different concepts necessarily. But maybe study some of these concepts that Bama and Florida utilize in the passing game getting their guys in space. If you're not moving forward, you're moving backward. Our offense puts up outstanding numbers. I feel like we've been sorta stagnant and just relying on our incredible QBs to make incredible throw after throw instead of trying to make it a little easier on them.
Our continuity is a huge blessing, but it can also be a bit of a curse if you're not adapting.

No way their LB's can match up to Bama's receivers.
They made it waaaaay too easy for the Gumps. If they'd played that defense against us, it would have been a different story. It's a head scratcher.

side too much, and didn't (or couldn't due to rush) exploit the deep matchups. I know we have receivers down, but you can't tell me that Powell, Rodgers, and Williams aren't enough to get one of them on the LBs often. And hey, maybe even exploit the underneath with Galloway or Etienne!

I think Rodgers and Powell played very well against Ohio State. They combined for 16 catches for 193 yards, and 2 touchdowns. The issue was what not having a consistent #3 threat. They were able to win the battle at the line which took away our run game, and also didn't allow Lawrence for time to throw the deeper routes. They had to worry even less about our running game in the 2nd half with the large lead they had at the half.

I can definitely get on board with moving our guys around a bit more. Seems like to me someone extreme ignorant to the Xs and Os are guys for the most part line up in the same spots. I know they used to cross train at all spots. Maybe still do IDK.

I agree, they have a great way to scheme there receivers open, which is something we lack. We could learn sowething from them. Elliott is a really smart guy, I’m sure he can adapt some of the same concepts.

took us to the playoffs. But to call him one "of the greatest QBs to ever play college football" is a bit of a stretch IMO.
