Plus, I would think we would need to know DRad’s rating in order to judge whether he’s overrated or not.

I would say DRad is good for a school like Clemson where fundraising ability is essential to try and keep up with the bamas and Ohio states of the world . There’s only a few of us big money donors.
As far as hiring and firing of coaches, as long as Dabo is carrying the Athletic Department, he won’t get held accountable

The whole “we’re just little ‘ol Clemson, we are simple folk who don’t have money” persona is neither beneficial nor true.
Our fan base has plenty of money. We have the best facilities in the nation for a reason.
I get it, we aren’t a huge school in terms of enrollment and we don’t have a law school, medical school, or dental school. But many alums and fans have been very successful and are willing and able to donate large sums of money.

No we have a hustle mentality. Work harder because it isn't going to be given. Sweat equity.
We are still little 'ol Clemson. Granted we are not "small"but compared to the alumni bases of Ped State, Ohio State or UCLA. Even others like FSU, UNC, UVA that do have more resources to waste. We can't waste resources and compete. In comparison, the coots can only squander.
However, resources do help but resources without hustle and hard work is just wasted. We have had a very dedicated fanbase that knows what it takes.

Sometimes the best decisions is the decision to not break something that is working. TDP did great, ain't broke, no need to fix. Keep the train rolling
Plus his choices in Butler and Rattman have been great thus far. Lee has been inconsistent choice -looked good initially, sumped, looked good again, fallen off a cliff.

Carla Williams
Pro-was the AD that took a no-name program to a natty in basketball.
Con- Can't win at football, completely ineffective vs powers and can only beat the coots. Soccer has completely fizzled, no longer competitive in conference. Baseball has went from power to the bottom of the table, and she went to Jawja
know the skool?

National title contenders annually in football, soccer, golf, cheerleading and soon to be softball. Basketball and baseball are postseason teams. Can we upgrade from Brownell? Maybe. From Lee? Definitely, but overall our athletic programs are very good and he has made some wonderful hires with Butler and Rittman. He has also been a phenomenal fund raiser and is a huge reason we have the facilities to be top notch in recruiting. I think he is an amazing AD.

No idea about volleyball, rowing, w golf or M/W Tennis and don't really care.

2 of last 4 for men’s basketball

We weren’t going to make it last year.
And I think you are underselling the baseball fall. A lot of Clemson fans used to say baseball was our second biggest sport and it has gone from consistent top 20 program to possibly having a losing season.
Also men’s and women’s tennis are at arguably their lowest points ever.

TIP,
I know you follow as many Clemson sports closely as anyone on this board so I will pose this question to you.
Others can respond if they would like as well.
Baseball is having a bad season and there is no arguing that.
However, in most seasons with Monte it has been the pitching staff that falls short when it matters. We have rarely held teams under 5 runs in the postseason which I think is the measuring stick when you want to compete with opposing postseason pitching staffs. We can't be expected to score 7-10 runs just to stay in a game every year in Regionals.
My question is, with the season ending early in 2020, does it get completely ignored as a plus for Monte?
He had what I feel was without a doubt his best pitching rotation and finally seemed to have some arms that could compete in the postseason, but we never got to find out if that was going to happen.
Saying the baseball program has had a massive fall is ignoring last season.
Hitting is hot and cold for every team throughout the season, but absent this baseball season have been consistent Friday and Saturday starting pitchers and the needed 1 or 2 shutdown guys in the pen.

We had started off well but it was very early in the year before much of the meat of the schedule. It could’ve been a super regional year or another regional loss. There’s really no way to tell.

I understand that we don't know the conclusion of what would have happened.
On the other hand, how can you throw out a team that was developed for 6 and a half months from September to mid-March and seemed to be really strong in the time they got?
We had 3 losses a third of the way through the season.
It seems many who are pushing that baseball is a bad program under Coach Lee like the idea of throwing out last season because we didn't get to see the end of what would have happened. I am not including you in this group.
I think we have to take it for exactly what it was which was an outstanding third of a season.
This year is not the same team and is another conversation totally, but we can't pretend we played 2 or 3 games last season instead of 20 when discussing baseball's recent results.

Not underselling or overselling baseball. Monte looked like and was lauded as a great hire when it happened. He certainly has a lot left to prove but the landscape of college baseball has changed over the years so the frequent trips to the CWS is likely over but we should still beat teams like CofC.

actually know, in detail, what makes an AD good at their job. I'm guessing that you (and probably the rest of us), have no clue. There's a helluva lot more involved that just hiring and firing coaches.

You're wrong. You know that you are usually wrong about things that are based upon opinion. Life has taught you this lesson many times and your current status/station is abject proof of this. Your only good decisions have been when you've gone against your instincts.
How's that?

This seems like a very personal response to the OP.
I am imagining a scenario where rgby is a scok of the OP and he is using this thread to bring himself down a notch because he is feeling a little full of himself.
When nobody else presented definitive proof that the OP was wrong, the scok had to step in to make sure he ended the speculation.
I'm LOL'ing at my scenario.
Please nobody stop me. It's been a really slow day at work.

While I agree my response seems first person familiar, I assure you the OP and I are separate entities. Over the years I have developed an uncanny insight into the mindlessness of others, a superpower if you will. I find that most people on here are easy reads, heart on the sleeve posters. Especially those of the self-defecating humor ilk. I seldom opine on others out of humble self-restraint and the understanding that most serial posters are extremely sensitive and have esteem issues. All apologies.

All DRAD has to do is stay out of DAbo's way and listen to
Apr 14, 2021, 1:28 PM
|
|
Dabo when Dabo says he needs something... as far as that goes. He's been outstanding. The moment a Clemson AD starts wielding some kinda self propagated power or tries to spread out the wealth evenly among the other vagrants..then he'll ruin the program and DAbo will be moving on.
But as far as innovation or some great skill..nah.. he's just not screwing it up.

Changing the mind of a woman is impossible unless it’s her idea or she’s getting jewelry, car, horse etc.
D.Rad has been apart of the greatest football era ever at Clemson & top 5 in the NCAA in modern football.
A couple of the other sports like woman’s basketball, softball & both soccer programs have done well.
If Dabo is happy & your a football fan I’d leave D.Rad exactly where he is.
Go Tigers
