Maybe i saw Rattler on a couple of his mediocre days, but he certainly didn't look like a future odds on favorite to be #1 pick of NFL draft. I see a wide talent gap between this year's #1 pick and Rattler, that's for sure.

I feel like Howell is a better prospect than Rattler

This season should tell us a lot though.

Good fun. Fun post. I need more football posts as Summer approaches.
Most years unknown guys come out of hiding. I think few recent years have been as open for that as is 2021.

Looking down that list, I would think that next year is

going to be an overall "down" year for the NFL draft. But, there will be kids who have that breakout season in their last year, it always happens.

Spencer Rattler has a lot to prove

May 17, 2021, 5:48 PM

He sure didn't look like a future #1 pick when the going got tough. His decision-making under pressure was poor, even for a redshirt freshman. He seems to have all the tools but I didn't see enough execution.

That list of players for 2022 falls far short of the 2021 prospects.

My top two are 1. Kayvon Thibadeaux and 2. Derek Stingley Jr.

I think both of those guys will be monsters at the next level. Stingley really dropped off last year but I think there were issues off the field that affected his play. If you built a CB on a video game, he is what you would create.

Thibadeaux had a slow start as a true freshman but he was a terror the final few games. I believe he has a chance to be an Heisman Trophy finalist.

Rattler will be hard to beat because ESPN has been pushing him for over a year. Let's face it, the politically biased ESPN determines a lot in sports, including the Heisman.

ESPN doesn't have anything to do with NFL draft selections

May 17, 2021, 8:47 PM

NFL teams do their own diligence and don't give a care what ESPN says.

If this was Heisman Trophy voting, it might be different. The draft is a completely different animal.

Just look at Justin Fields. ESPN was slathering all over the guy and he lasted until #11. NFL teams didn't care that most ESPN talking heads said Fields was the 2nd best QB in the draft. Zach Wilson and Trey Lance were taken way ahead of him regardless.

Rattler will have to prove it on the field. Every second of his All-22 film will be dissected and put under a magnifying glass. If his performance doesn't measure up, particularly his decision-making, it won't happen for him. Simple as that.
