1980 - Can I play?

The last time UGA won a national championship: 1. The Rubik's Cube had not been invented. 2. Mt. St. Helen's had not erupted. 3. CNN did not exist. 4. There was no such thing as Post-It notes. 5. John Lennon was alive. 6. Neither Jessica Simpson nor Kim Kardashian were alive.
And, I was a LT(jg) in the US Navy.
That was a long, long, long time ago.

We still don't need #3 and #6. Hey, we all know where CNN is based so there you go.

As someone who is presumably a fan of a conference rival, your efforts to endear yourself to these guys is a bit cringe worthy.

If you promise not to tell all these Tiger fans, I'll let you in on a little secret.
Larry Munson is my favorite college football announcer of all time. No one could be as big a homer as he was and still paint a verbal picture like Larry. He lived and died with his Dawgs.
Everybody rates is number one call as, "Run, Lindsay, run...." But, I place it 3rd on my Munson's Top Ten.
#2 is "Sugar is falling from the skies...."
And, my #1 was when UGA was trying to stop a team driving for a 4th quarter TD in a big game. (I don't even remember the opponent. I think it was Auburn.) After every down he was pleading, begging and imploring, "Hunker down, you hairy dawgs." When 4th down came, he said, "I know I've asked you before. But, I promise you, I'll never ask you again if you do it one more time. Just one more time, hunker down you hairy dawgs!"

And at the same time your attempt to endear yourself self to Dawg fans is quite effective. Well done, Sir.

I root for UGA every year when they play Florida or Alabama. On those days, UGA is my third favorite team in the country.

I'd root for a Satan-coached team of Isis fighters against Florida. As for Bama, can't hate 'em, just hope we can one day beat 'em

I think they both forgot that they are on a CLEMSON TIGER fansite. The lovefest is beyond...

Bret, you just blew your favorite outsider status. We all know that Jim Phillips was the best, bar none.

I joined the Marines in 1980, so I can relate to 1980. Watched their game with a dawg fan in our open squad bay "living" (if you want to call it that...they'd condemn it nowadays).

I'm old. All those things happened in 1980. I should have googled "what happened in 1981?"
Diana Spencer was just Diana, not Lady Diana. Columbia (space shuttle) had not been launched. No woman had ever sat on SCOTUS. No one had ever heard of Indiana Jones. Back to the Future had not been filmed because there was no DeLorean. There were 444 American hostages in Iran.

Thank you for serving our country!
Also, in 1980 me and my best friend packed up and moved to Myrtle Beach for the entire summer. One of the best summers ever.

That was a long time ago.
