13 million

Is what Jaden Rashada was going to get from nil for going to Florida before the deal fell through. Wow wow wow. Absolutely ridiculous what college football is becoming

Technically though, the NFL doesn't limit how much a player can make on endorsement deals which is pretty much what NIL deals are. I don't like it at all, but I think that would be a hurdle to jump even if the NCAA tried to limit how much a player could receive.

I would imagine though that an NFL team would get in trouble if it were even found that a team was trying to get around a salary cap by promising a player certain amounts in endorsement deals if they sign with them which is what's currently happening in college football.

The NFL has team cap limits that are part of a collective bargaining agreement with the players union. NIL is payment for name, image, and likeness. Some pro athletes get enormous deals to advertise. NIL is the same and the courts have ruled no limits on what a player can get. Most of this kids would make miserable reps for a business so it's really just a booster donation hoping to attract a recruit that can produce. With all the flame outs I think boosters are going to get more hesitant but still, only a few teams are going to be left standing that have money to throw at this. Eventual solution may be minor league football with the NFL picking up the tab. Big time college football and the illusion that most of these kids are student athletes pursuing meaningful degrees has just about run its course. The NCAA can't control this or any of the teams as evidenced by the UNC fake grades scandal that took years to investigate and ended up as nothing to see. Might want to burn down the NCAA rules and let the schools with money form their own league with some streamlined rules. Current system is broken.

The NFL will NEVER create and pay for a minor league system as long as college football exists.

But a college kid’s NIL is NOT a salary.
There is no legal way to cap NIL.
There is no fixing this.
There is no going back.
Any attempt to limit NIL will immediately be rejected by the courts,

13 million on a 17 or 18 year old is just dumb. More power to anyone who can get rich simply for having fun in high school. I wish it had been me!!!

A booster who provides millions in a NIL deal to a high school kid will be upset when the kid doesn't perform as expected on the football field. It's my understanding that the NIL deal is binding, so if the kid decides to enter the transfer portal after a few games, the kid is still entitled to receive his pre-existing NIL money.
I don't think a lot of people will be anxious to give big money to an individual NIL contract once they get burned by a kid's lack of performance on Saturdays.

If Napier’s recruitment of the player is above board, he thought that he had his QB for this cycle. The QB may have been doing this behind Napier’s back. IF that is the case, Napier needs to hold firm. If he doesn’t, he has lost control of recruiting. IF the collective did this behind Napier’s back, some boosters need to be banned from UF athletics. I am hoping that the NCAA has boots on the ground getting the facts.

Who has control of recruiting right now? I don't disagree with some of the points you make but it the facts hardly matter. Anything perceived or that can be manipulated to be seen as against the kid's interests will be used to bludgeon Florida.

NIL is between the 'student' and collective/etc; not the University. This kid signed with UF to play football as a 'student' athlete.

We had our backup QB this year that originally transferred to Northeastern or someplace, then transferred back to Clemson for his last eligible season.

It was a classic bait and switch. The problem is NIL is not supposed to be used to entice a player to a school. The collective and the player both have blame here.

With no repercussions at all, for school or athlete.Bizarre what a 180 cfb has done. But again, the current chaos is because college football decided to sit on their hands and let the chips fall. No guard rails.

Don't believe the NIL numbers you are hearing. The more than most NFL draftees get. There's a lot of puffery going. The internet floats a number and everyone latches onto it as if its a fact.
