Why are't we #1????

Fact: We are one of two undefeated teams with wins over top 15 teams. The other is UF and they barely got wins over East Carolina, Kentucky and UT. Of the teams in front of us, 3 have shown serious problems not only this week, but in previous weeks. The other two are getting credit for beating crappy teams, Utah for a win against an Oregon team that lost to Washington State and Baylor has played one team with a winning record and that team has not beat a team with a winning record.
So? Why aren't we #1??

I honestly think we get some 1st place votes this week. I say at least 2 or 3 maybe. Heck I would vote us number one just because of Dabo.

That is beside the point (and I agree with you that it means nothing right now). My point is the obvious bias of the AP poll is starting to show.

I agree with you, but Dabo himself said "Best is the standard".
That would be #1 in my book, not #4.
That also begs the question, how would that impact our draw in the playoff if we finish ranked #1 vs #4?

tcu or baylor or as fsu did last year, travel cross country for their playoff game as the only undefeated team.
absolutely agree you'd rather be in than not in, but there are benes to being 1 instead of 3 or 4.

there is a difference playing in the cotton bowl against

tcu or baylor and playing in the OB if only because clemson's strong presence in florida as opposed to tejas.
it's not just about the game crowd, but the time difference, the surroundings, the local media, preparing for a number of days in the opposing team's back yard.
it's a relative home game for those 2 teams.
and fsu traveling cross country as the only undefeated team was a joke.
they will continue to have split games for those games and the 1 & 2 ranked teams will continue to get the "home" game advantage.
would it be much less of an impact if clemson played say a utah or osu in the cotton bowl? sure, but you'd rather play them in the OB if giving the choice?

One thing that Dabo and company have instilled in this team is that nothing matters but the next game. So whether we are #1 or #101 this team will play to win. This is the biggest reason I no longer feel as nervous prior to games. If Dabo ain't worried about things he can't control then I won't worry about it either! Go Tigers!!!
