Ray Ray and Tyshon and fumbles in general

Oct 16, 2016, 6:45 PM

Several things on my mind

1. The Scott mentioned that they were going to coach up the players regarding turnovers. I would say that whatever they have tried hasn't worked. The coaches have to ask themselves what are they going to do different?

2. Ray Ray has fumbed a punt in 3 of the last 4 games. If he fumbles another one its the coaches fault.

3. Tyshon fumbed on the goal line against Troy, and has historically had trouble holding on to the ball. He fumbled on the goal line again. If he fumbles again its the coaches fault.

Ray is high risk high reward

At this point, the coaches have surely preached ball security ad nauseum. It's a personnel issue. No one has the "electric" potential Ray Ray has. So, the potential reward is game changing...but so are lost fumbles. Unfortunately, he's just "one of those guys" at this point and the coaches have to accept the gamble or replace him. I don't think there's any amount of coaching that can change his approach. It's instinctive.

I agree, especially on Ray Ray...Artavias Scott has much better hands and is a better return threat. Almost looks like Dabo doesn't want to hurt Ray Ray's feelings by making a change!!!

I think the most difficult thing to do in sports is stay in the moment. Can't dwell on the last play, shot, etc. I know it is from experience in golf and tennis. An offshoot of that is the more you TRY not to do something, the more likely you do. If Ray Ray is thinking about not fumbling .... NC State's kicker may have suffered the same fate tho I have read earlier posts about Wilkins influence and respect that point of view.
