Quote from a Lifetime Eyes of Texas member and season ticket

Dec 4, 2020, 6:07 PM

holder at the University of Texas: "The ONLY coach in the country who can turn this program around is Coach Meyer."

If this guy really believes that, his school is doomed. Because, even if he were to come there, he will be gone in less than 4 years due to medical reasons. Once could have been an anomaly, but twice is a pattern.

This got me thinking, would we be so short sighted to think that Urban Meyer is the ONLY coach in the whole country who could successfully lead Clemson, if we were in a similar situation? I would certainly hope not. We certainly didn't go for the big splash last time we made a coaching change.

He even won them a Natty, but what he is now doing at UNC

wouldn't be considered nearly good enough at Pronghorn U.

Don't think he's the only one to turn things around but his track record shows he can do it with the best of any. Gets his teams to buy-in to a winning culture and his recruiting is undeniably great.

Not arguing any of those points. Just saying that he is too

obsessive / compulsive to tone his workload down to the point where he won't have medical issues again. He went into the Ohio State job already forewarned by what happened to him at Florida, and still couldn't do it.

No disagreement with you there. He has a hard time not going full tilt, which yes can bring on the medical issues.

Health is always an issue, for EVERYONE, all the time, but what head coach in CFB, or the NFL, doesn't go "full tilt"? It's an 18, sometimes a 24 hr. a day job. And sometimes your body just can't take it. But given this kind of pressure, when you bail time and time again for health reasons, and keep coming back, one might suspect... what's really up?

Go Tigers!!!

It should be clear to everyone what the problem with Urban Meyer. When the ish starts to hit the fan he runs (and develops health conditions). At Florida, his players were getting in trouble and stopped performing on the field. What happens...he runs out. He got caught covering up and lying for an abusive assistant coach (didn't he destroy evidence too?). The pressure ramped up on him and he ran.

Is he a good coach? Yes. However, he is very opportunistic and self-serving. I would want him to stay far away from my program.

This Texas person sounds like one that thinks only large amounts of money can solve problems when it rarely does. Meyer still has the spider cyst in his brain I believe since it’s almost impossible to operate on those. At best he could be the face and delegate but he couldn’t actively coach during practice and on the sidelines without severe pain and headaches again. What’s amazing is the guy keeps getting held up as a messiah in the #MeToo era. I guess he sees Mullen and Day having success and doesn’t want people to think Urban didn’t build that.

Normally I would agree with you. Money does not solve problems. Too bad people that believe in big government don’t understand that. Then again, the people on the far left and the main stream media, it’s not about big government for them. It’s about socialism, communism, power and control!

But money does not solve problems. Money doesn’t fix bad school systems. Money doesn’t fix many problems, but where I do disagree with you, it’s regarding urban Meyer.

When it comes to college football they’re absolutely positively to people that do make an immediate impact unlike anyone we’ve ever seen before, Nick Saban and urban Meyer.

The name urban Meyer or Nick Saban running a major college program even if only for 3 to 5 years will turn that program around because they get immediate success on the field with the talent already there and while they are there you will have a top-five recruiting class if not top three recruiting class every year!

If my program was in the toilet I would take four years of Nick Saban or urban Meyer all day long!

Does anyone else think it a bit curious and humorous that the Univ of Texa$ looks with disdain at its country cousins at A&M yet chooses a steer as its mascot? A farm/ranch animal, table fare no less? Then again, think of our Columbia friends. They sat you cannot fix stupid. Possibly can’t fix arrogant either. Hobson, what are your thoughts on the matter?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The level of desperation at UT has never been close to this

Dec 5, 2020, 11:35 AM

and I'm enjoying every minute of it. Urban Meyer going there would be the perfect match because I don't like either one.

This also serves Tom Herman right for the jerky way he left UH.
