Bottle opener from Memorial Stadium oak - repair

If you purchased a bottle opener made from the oak taken down in Memorial Stadium from the guy on here and have subsequently broken it, here is how to repair. I reached out to him for the part number to purchase a replacement kit, but he said his Dad had purchased from China in bulk. He did send me a new opener. It broke as well. So two broken!

I dug around and ordered a kit from Peachtree (see photo for part number). It did a great job and fit perfectly. Both ends have a threaded inserts that press in, and the cap and opener screw into those. If you have a broken one and can extract the broken-off screw end from the opener, you may be able to just screw in the new one. That did not work on either one for me. Had to unscrew the cap, screw in a screw a few inches long into that hole to use to remove that insert. Then can use a bolt of the correct diameter to slide down the shaft and knock out the other insert. The new kit then inserted pretty easily.

Used one at the Tech game and it worked better than the old opener, and didn't break!

I suggest them as gifts to any Clemson fan.
