Question for you electrical wizards...

Jan 6, 2023, 12:59 PM

... especially TBalm, because I trust his assessment over all others, but all replies are welcome. I am considering constructing a lifesize replica of the Death Valley scoreboard. Fully operational, fully functional, down the last pixel. I have the land at my disposal, and I have nothing but time on my hands. Money is no object. My concern is whether I should upgrade our current electrical infrastructure. My brother said a standard power strip, with a surge protector, should be good and plenty, and he rarely steers me wrong. (Well, deep frying the frozen turkey was not a good idea, but I think he was just having some fun with me.)

Since you're building, just add a windmill to your plans

You don't want carbon all over your feet.

Assuming engineering students are still required to perform a senior team project for an outside company, you should submit this as a proposal to the EE department. Free labor from some of the most brilliant young minds in the free world. I'd require it to run off a bank of 12V batteries for at least 12 hours to ensure you won't lose video if there's a power outage on a big game day and the batteries will ensure you won't have noise to contend with from a backup diesel generator.

Call Biden and he will direct you in the right direction.
