Question for liberals...

Apr 8, 2021, 7:08 AM

What is your definition of an assault rifle?

I'm not a liberal and know very little about guns.

But when I see that word, to me it means a weapon that shoots off a lot of ammunition very quickly, such that it would seem to be designed to take down a lot of targets at one time. When I think about it, I definitely picture an automatic weapon (I think that is where you just hold the trigger down to keep shooting.)

Anyone with half a brain knows it's a made-up term...hth***

If she's a hollerer, she'll be a screamer.
If she's a screamer, she'll get you arrested.

Every term is made up.***

No idea. They are all the same to me. I just want strong laws to get one.

My definition:

It's a term that relates to the type of rifles you see in movies like Lone Survivor. Like below.

They use a 5.56 mm bullet and the ammo is called "5.56." This is approx the diameter of the bullet (part that flies out). The brass part of the round is larger.

This rifle tries to balance weight, high-capacity magazine, kill power at range, accuracy at range, minimal recoil, etc. - the things that help a soldier kill other people while staying alive themselves.

A key is low recoil or kick. These weapons can easily be fired by women or lightweight individuals, as opposed to a 12 gauge shotgun, for example, which will kick your a$$ if you are not holding it strong.

The "terrorist" use the AK-47 assault rifle. It uses 7.62 mm ammo and kicks a lot more. A 7.62 is like a .30 caliber deer rifle. (do the math: 7.62/25.4 = 0.30 inches). One of the reasons it is inaccurate is because it moves so much after the first shot. The shooter has a hard time holding it on target.

Thus, AR is a generic term meaning a gun that is effective or can be effective in fire fights and special operations type scenarios. Easy and effective to move and shoot...
