Question about GT/Clemson game

I am not an expert on the rules....but after the coin toss, why did GT receive the kickoff to start the game AND to start the 2nd half? Asking for a friend.

Little known rule

GT won the toss and picked an option that most folks didn't know was a possibility. Evidently a team can choose to "play offense" and then they get to receive the kickoff at the start of both halves.
