QB and talent around him.

Nov 16, 2021, 8:04 PM

DJ last season had talent around him and he performed admirably especially for a freshman.
Remember when the pundits said Tua was a can’t miss in the NFL and Justin Hubbert from Oregon was passed over for Tua. Tua had 4 first round receivers, multiple first round offensive lineman and first round RB talent. Hubbert didn’t have much, but he is, was, a better talent than Tua. I would take Hubbert over TL, Tua, Watson, and Kyler Murray. Give DJ time he will respond. Klubnik will be a shot in the arm next year. Just looking at potential talent on our offense and defense, we will be MUCH improved next year.

Herbert is a poor man’sTL….. Kyler, TL and DW4 are either proven better or better prospects. To your point though, Herbert is surrounded by all pro WRs, OL, and really good RBs…. Give TL Mike Williams, Keenan Allen and all those weapons and I promise you the results would be better. I see your point but I don’t think you proved your own point, or maybe are not familiar with the personnel each of those team last has, Kyler is a freak and more unique than all of them, DW4 has been incredible, especially given the dysfunction of that franchise. I think your point is circumstances matter and they certainly do.

Herbert at Oregon didn’t have the talent Tua and TL had. The point I was trying to make was that Herbert is a better overall talent than Tua, but was passed over. Our entire offensive line other than Bock will be back next year. I can tell you from experience that trust in your OL from a QB perspective is paramount. Thanks for your thoughts. Go Tigers!

Did you watch the games this year?

DJs problems aren't going to be fixed by better talent around him.

Maybe to some extent, but he didn't exhibit the same

fundamental issues last year that he's showing this year. I don't think it matters who is playing around him, he is doing a lot of things wrong now that we didn't see last year.

His throwing motion hasn't been fixed.. It's still elongated and he doesn't go through progressions. Last season he was bailed out by a better OL and more competent(seasoned) WRs that got separation. These young kids aren't doing it, well consistently...
