Purple Out

Some people on here are complaining about wearing purple to the game saturday. Some of your arguments are that it will hurt the image of the Clemson team because we are supposed to wear Orange on White at home; but the game is not on TV, so wearing purple will not hurt it. Some of you also call out the students for not doing their part, but we were the ones that stayed throughout the entire FSU game and cheered when Cole scored. The students are doing their part. The Purple Out is a student driven initiative to show some spirt and pride in our wonderful institution and pay respect to our military. Don't forget that our players are also students. But the main point of the Purple Out is to honor the military. The way I look at it, if the military is going to go over seas and put their life on the line every day so that I can go to a football game on Saturday afternoon, the least that I can do is wear purple to a football game. Purple is a school color, it's not like we are doing a black out. Purple is used everywhere around campus. If you just cannot wear purple then don't, but the students will be and hopefully the team will be; but do not keep complaining about the purple. Don't try and change it, embarrass it. We are not trying to change the school colors, we are just showing support for our military for one game. We will go back to wearing orange the next time we are back in Death Valley, and will wear orange on the road. The students sold out our allotment of tickets for this game, and we are all excited for this. We will be wearing purple and we will be proud to do so, and we hope all of you will wear purple too.

I like you point about school colors. I hate it when schools drag in some rANDOM color that isnt even part of their history.

i know that it is one of the school colors (still haven't figured out exactly why, except that purple was easy to produce and manufacture back in the day.) i live a few miles from the furman campus, so i see purple too much as it is. i just don't like it !
o.k.,there you have it- I LIVE TOO CLOSE TO FURMAN'S CAMPUS TO ENJOY THE COLOR!

Well said! I'm with you on this. I prefer the classic orange , but seriously if you don't like the purple don't wear it. It's not like you will be denied access to the game if you're wearing orange. I see coots at our games with their coot shirts on (morons), and not just when we are olaying them! I'll take a Tiger in purple any day in Death Valley over a freaking coot! Go Tigers!
