I literally had to google it to find out what it meant. Oh and OAN is a Herring Network - so I guess they've got who they've got.

I can assure you more leftist twitters know what OAN is than does anyone on the right. I can also assure you nobody on the OSU team had any idea about any of this until somebody else told them they needed to be outraged. Gundy has been on the lefts "get rid of" radar for a while, just like Dabo.

Or Bomani Jones? Who do you think he voted for? Certainly sounds like they have an ax to grind and it's not like they lean right, so that's three off the top of my head

Bomani lost his credibility after his asinine comments about the Duke lacrosse case. He's been irrelevant or on the fringe since.

I'd never heard of it either . Pretty ultra-right start up network . You're either into that or you're not , but nobody should have any misconception as to why young black men who play for a guy wearing that t-shirt would take umbrage with it .

I hear far more about outrage around competing viewpoints
Jun 15, 2020, 8:25 PM
|
|
from the other sides, whichever they may be, by a long shot, than an actual original opposition - if it even exists.
An outlier will post something wild against a viewpoint, and those supporting the viewpoint will hyperventilate over how "they" are portraying it and all the hypocrisy, mixed morality, etc. at hand because "this is what they all believe". A swirling vortex of nonsense and distraction on the way down to the bottom.

I disagree that OAN is ultra right. It reminds me of the news when I was a little girl. Just news, no commentaries. You either like the facts or you don’t. It is a bit like BBC. To say it’s ultra right is a miss characterization. People are entitled to their political views, political affiliations, sexual preferences, religious views etc. If these young men don’t want to play ball for a coach who watches a news program let them walk. No player is bigger than a team. And no one has the right to decide personal freedoms are wrong unless the person is blatantly breaking the law. Gundy hasn’t broken any law.

Agree... OAN is definitely right leaning in their commentary shows but is far from right wing conspiracy TV. In fact OAN does a better job than ANY other US cable news network of covering World news. OAN dedicates at least 15 minutes or more every hour in their regular news broadcasts on things happening outside the USA - something you just don't see on the CNN, MSNBC, or FOXNEWS which is US politics 24/7. Those trying to brand OAN as a bunch of crazy right wingers should stop repeating leftist talking points and check out an hour of OAN's regular news coverage...

The elites in the DC area back then absolutely hated Coolidge. Events at the White House did not included alcoholic beverages since the first family opposed drinking, lol.

I'm an independent and have been most of my adult life (51 next Tuesday ) but I think it's either a little naive if not purposefully disingenuous to say that OAN isn't far-right politically . I watched some of it tonight after hearing about it for the first time today with this story , and it's clear within a few minutes of watching it who's side they're on . That's fine , everybody gets a microphone and a camera that has an agenda today . Welcome to MediAmerica , where all you need is a YouTube channel and something to gripe about ...someone to blame and feel ill toward . It is so far left or wide right in this country right now one can feel like a volleyed tennis ball when trying to sort it into something that makes sense . There is no moderation in American politics today , and I am not sure if that is a result of the absurdist news outlets as most claim , but it may be .
I deactivated my Facebook acct last week because the ranting and self-righteousness became a nauseating whirlpool of nonsense . Since this Covid-19 thing started there are days on Tigernet , it gets kinda close to that level of disgust for me . Wish football and sports in general was back in the viewer's queue , that might help some of this balance out . It's still a great country , there's lots of different people with lots of different ideas and opinions . Gotta wade past the habitually stupid and those lost individuals so full of hate energy they cannot or will not open their eyes ... and come up with some healthy balance in our hearts and our minds . This country needs it , and our sanity depends on it .

You are exactly right. It is objective reporting and the people calling it "ultra right wing" are only parroting what they have read. Doubt theyve ever even watched it. Anything with facts and objrctivity is attacked by the left as racist or hateful.

Clearly anyone who watches OAN, much less wears a shirt, has an opinion that should be suppressed.
BLM, however, should be glorified.

that have repercussions...i mean really do you think wearing a freaking shirt with a news org logo on it calls for repercussions? just as when twitter suspends folks by "mistake" its always right wing people who get that..not to mention when fake news blasts a fake report about trump by "mistake" its never a mistake that paints him in a good light.

I see opinions expressed on TNet all the time
Jun 16, 2020, 1:49 PM
|
|
How are people being persecuted here?
If an athlete doesn't like what the coach is promoting, they're free to leave the program. If somebody wants to be upset about it, well that's just their opinion.
Gundy has been very clear on his beliefs and often unwavering. No complaints from me. If somebody wants to be upset about it, well that's just their opinion.
That's why you don't talk politics among friends. People will get too riled up and form strong opinions, when in reality most folks are pretty cool and not that different.
My biggest complaint is folks that are intentionally inflammatory. And people that cry they're the victim all the time. Often these two types are linked.

I hope to god Gundy stands his ground, it's time people quit caving into the left/liberal onslaught. I'm no OAN fan or Gundy fan, but I'm sick of people being cancelled for their views. He|| people say stuff all the time that I hate, but never advocated for them to be cancelled.
He should say, yeah I wore it, and around here the tail doesn't wag the dog, I won't cave to 19 year old woke folk.

Yeah, but when that guy is your star running back who literally carried the team on his back and Gundy ran the wheels off him and rushed him 328 times for 2,098 yards and 21 TD's, Gundy needs to start caring.
Both Hubbard's carries and yards led the country this past year, incidentally.

Gundy should "bow" to pressure b/c he wore on OAN shirt based on the fact that his "star" running back is the one spouting off at the mouth without thinking? That's stupid.
What does Chubba's numbers of carries or yards have to do with the fact that he's acting like an ignorant 5 yr. old?
Gundy should say "really Chubba? Ok, you can pay for your final year on your own"

If you don't understand why a black RB who literally ran his legs off for his team this past year and endured more punishment than any other RB in America might have an issue with his head coach publicly wearing the T-shirt of an Alt-Right network that makes Fox News look like socialists, I can't help you.
It was an incredibly dumb move from Gundy, and he just gave the top rusher in America a reason to hit the transfer portal. Who wants to play for a guy who openly wears his contempt for your cause on his shirt?

copied from somewhere and void of any original thought...
Chubba opened his mouth and tried to instigate something that wasn't there and insert himself into it. Gundy should hold him accountable. If that's how he feels, play somewhere else.
And the fact that you point to "number of carries" as fuel for this is so ignorant it's laughable.

Q, you have a reputation for thoughtful pragmatism.
But right now you're kissing babies. Before we sell our collective souls in order to keep peace on somebody else's football team, you need to ask yourself what principles are nonnegotiable in your effort to be pragmatic?
'Cause pretty soon you're going to open your eyes and realize you kissed something you didn't mean to, and the person you kissed will be laughing at you. Not respecting you.
BTW, until last month, would you have ever chosen the word 'punishment' to describe the guy who got to lead the nation in carries? On most teams any player is allowed to rotate himself out of the game when he feels the need. I understand your point that he is 'irreplaceable', but is he really?

To have his carries and let Hubbard mull things over somewhere else over a shirt with a news organization on it. Pretty soon they’ll be telling Gundy what kind of car he can drive and what he can eat. I said in another thread on this subject if anyone thought Hubbard would be big and bad enough to take this stand if he had just been drafted(involving dollars here) over a #### news shirt. What the hell is he even standing for?

sad for OKSt. Over a news network?? How petty and dumb are we going to get? He's a 20 year old kid who thinks he knows everything. One day he'll look back and regret trying to be judge and jury. He'll alienate his whole team, fanbase, college football fans to be at odds with each other and for what? Because a news network doesn't tote the same political party dogma? Its so sad how corroded kids minds are in college these days.

He could have talked to his coach about it privately. Calling him out on social media is a cowardly tactic.

This is the crux of the matter. Starting a raging public

firestorm on Twitter before even having a single face-to-face discussion with Grundy is just an example of all that’s going wrong with society in general.
It’s simply much to easy to fight public battles from behind a key board.
See ... expressing my disdain at this moment is taking no effort at all!

Yep it’s now come to if someone doesn’t agree with what you do, say, or wear then somethings wrong with you and you should change. If you don’t cave to the pressure you’re put under then you’re insensitive and a horrible person. Why’s it so wrong to disagree anymore?

I've thought hard on this one....

OAN is deplorable and makes Fox News seem like bleeding-heart liberals. They promote lies and right-wing conspiracies all while pretending to be a news organization funded by a rich right-winger with an agenda (surprise).
To make matters worst, Trump calls on them often at news conferences and their questions make them look like a Russian / China type of state run media hacks. They are awful, and dangerous.
Now having said ALL THAT, so what if the coach wants to wear their T-Shirt. I think it should have been handled internally if at all. I don't like any coach wearing it but it's every bit his right to do so.
Let the recruiting trail punish him not the overly virtuous. I am sure I pissed off everyone so flame away. It's how I feel.

I have a completely different view and could say anyone that doesn't agree is an idiot. I wont because it doesn't help. If anyone has something to discuss on a certain topic i love to debate although its not on this board.

How would that conversation have gone down? "Coach, we noticed you were wearing this shirt..."

that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard
this thread is a close second. I mean the one thing about all of the infighting and political bantering on the main forums lately, it is has become painfully obvious that a lot of you lack critical thinking. It is quite alarming.

For those of you who are more pragmatic than principled, and want to say the coach "should be smarter than that during these troubling times. Obviously he is trying to stir up strife by parading around in that t-shirt".
I have 2 questions for you: 1) why would you say a coach cannot be pro-Trump but still understand that black lives matter? If they are mutually exclusive positions, which one is the fascist?
And 2) the dude is out on the lake fishing. Who cares what he's wearing? There's a strong possibility that the RB listens to music that degrades women and uses the N-word when he's 'fishing.' Does that make him a bad person? (Don't answer that.) I guess I should ask, does he need to apologize?

If any of these players wore anti cop shirts they would expect their coach and everybody else to kiss their ###. However when someone wears a shirt they don't like, they also expect everybody to kiss their ###. Funny how that works isn't it?

But some people also thought a reality show host would make a good POTUS, so there's that.
