Has any Clemson player ever produced more "wow" moments

than #2?
OK in fairness maybe the question should be has any set of Clemson players ever produced more "wow" moments than Tajh to Sammy?
But yesterday when they hit that 96-yard bomb I was talking to my wife and literally said "WOW". Said the same thing on Sammy's catch and run against UGA. And many times during his freshman year.
I have watched Clemson football since I was old enough to understand and that goes back to about 1974. I have seen some greats but never seen one like Sammy. CJ may be the only one that even comes close.

cameras panned to Sammy, I knew that that was going for six. No doubt the Clemson and Virginia crowds knew it, also.
Sammy has produced a "Wow" factor; so did Nuk. Now, we're ready to see other Tigers step to the plate to keep us starry-eyed. And I'd venture that we won't be disappointed! GOOOOOOOOOOO TIGERRRRRRRRRRRRRS!!!!!!!!!!

on those screens are almost gimmes now. Who else can do that, not just in CU history but anywhere and he does it over and over.
It's great having him set up 2nd and 5 or 2nd and 4 so much.

great point. a lot of teams run those and you seldom see anyone do with it what he does. Normal guys get 0-4 Sammy routinely gets 6-10 or more

Dabo obviously knows what he's doing. (not only as a recruiter, but as a coach) I would say CJ Spiller may have had more "wow" moments than Sammy Watkins, but only because Sammy had an off year last year. Clemson is very fortunate to have had either player, and both should be great ambassador's and recruiters for Clemson University.
If I was an NFL scout, I would draft Spiller as my ideal RB and Sammy has the hands and speed to be a great WR. (although he might lack some size at the moment) Our coaching staff has done a great job of recruiting and preparing a number of players for NFL careers. (as well as their collegiate careers)

Sammy is crazy good, but I also am going to have to go with Spiller. Maybe he just had more opportunities as a RB though. Sammy, you have a couple more games to change my mind...

It looked awesome in the stadium, but once I got home and saw the highlights on TV, I was in awe. I still watch that play every couple of months.
Sammy is incredible, but I still say CJ was the most exciting player I've ever seen in a Clemson uniform.

CJ definitely would be up there. But on a side note, Hot rod will give you some broke angle moves. He just didn't against FSU. But am I right in saying hot rod can be a juke machine?

conversation with Sammy. Best game in CU history?
1. Sammy against UMD in 2011, 345 all purpose yards, 89 yard KO return for TD, 70 yard KO return, 8 catches 105 yards 2 amazing TD grabs, 1 run for 33 yards
2. CJ against Miami in 2009, 310 all purpose yards, 91 yard KO return, 81 yards rushing, 104 yards receiving 1 TD
3. Woody against State and Phillip Rivers in 2001, 23-27 passing for 333 yards and 4 TDs, 184 yards rushing and two TDs.

Woody was a pioneer.

Heard him on talk radio a few weeks back. They were asking him if he felt like he didn't get a fair chance in the NFL and was it hard to see running QBs now being all the rage. He was very gracious in accepting that he may have laid the groundwork for what we now see in QBs at the college and pro level.
But yeah, he had some "wow" moments. That OT game at GT stands out in my mind.

Years before, and years after Woody played. I think he was the very best and toughest dual threat QB I have ever seen. To me, Woody was as tough a RB as there were out there, and he was a good QB at the same time. He could pass the ball 100 times better than any RB in the entire country. I say that b/c to me, Woody was a better RB than he was a QB. He was as good at making defenses come out their shoes as CJ was. Woody will always be mention with the Clemson greats.

He had some great performances. Plenty of WOW moments, but he also had several slap your head moments too. I would put CJ at the top: that GT duo who he schooled is forever etched in my memory. If Sammy touched the ball as much as him he could be at the top.

For me Spiller is still the guy who made the most jaw dropping plays, followed by Sammy and Woody. I agree if Sammy got more touches he'd have more great plays, but remember CJ didn't get near the touches he should have his So. and Jr. years, so he could have had more as well. And in the return game it's not even close, so that gives CJ another feather in his cap above Sammy.
But Sammy is awesome in his own right, not taking anything away from him. No shame in being second to Spiller, and IMO both should have their names on the stadium one day.

you think the non-"cupcakes" are that we've played since Sammy has been here.
Please include the following in your reply:
2011 Auburn (defending nat'l champs) 10/155 and 2TDs. Also 44 yds rushing. 2011 FSU 7/141 and 2TDs 2013 Top 5 UGA 6/127 and a TD
Also, don't forget to mention that he was hurt (LSU 2012) or suspended (Auburn 2012) when we played some other tough games. In some of the others (USC etc.) he had a decent game despite not producing a "wow" moment.
I would challenge you to name ANY receiver in CFB more exciting than SW.
I didn't mention many of his other terrific games because you coots normally only think SEC teams and FSU are the good ones.

Still Sammy would be a better RB than CJ would be at WR.
Playing different positions it's hard to say buf if I'm starting a college team and could take either, it'd be Sammy.
Sammy more than any other player helped us get to the next level.

Let's face it. CJ should have been the main man his junior year with senior Davis taking a much reduced role, but Bowden wasted many downs running Davis up the middle for one yard. CJ shoulda had two years of what he did his senior year. I would argue Tajh and Nuk had a lot to do with this "next level" talk as much as Sammy.....again, not ripping on Sammy. Love the guy.

With all due respect to Sammy- and he IS a great one- you sound foolish to even ask that question. Sammy is not CJ. No current or former Tiger is CJ. That is a fact and it isn't up for debate. You want to talk "WOW" factor? There simply is no debate.

Butler's catch against the gamecocks will always be number one with me. The ball that Steve Fuller threw him seemed to be fifteen feet over his head. To this day, I still cannot believe that he caught that ball.
