Screw the ACC

Sep 3, 2021, 10:26 PM

Watching Duke and Charlotte, the UNC debacle makes me wonder about the ACC. The majority of the ACC doesn't care about football.

Why be an idiot? If you watched UTenn or UofSC would you conclude the SEC does not care about football? WF and VT looked solid so
Let’s wait for the rest of the league to play one game before passing judgement

The truth hurts. But the truth is the truth. No reason to be ugly with the name calling. I want this conference to be good, but Duke losing to Charlotte is not good. How many teams care about football? Duke, WF, BC and Syracuse sure do not. You have to question Miami, VA, Pitt and a few others. Look at a Miami home game, maybe 20,000 in the stands. Clemson needs to really take a hard look at the future of ACC football.

Coach Healy

Sep 4, 2021, 12:12 AM

So happy the chickens were too clucking silly to not go for Healy! This dude is a up and coming superstar in the coaching ranks!
They get a lot of the Charlotte area kids who went to other schools who were not getting burn at a school to transfer in.
The area in general has a wealth of talent as it is.
Healy's only issue is it's a new program and the difference maker talent won't be coming anytime soon; unless he gets a group of under-valued 3 star players who are there at the same time who develop into beast of football players.

I am not a "conference person" yelling: Acc, Acc, Acc or nothing stupid like that. But, it is a black-eye when a team that's only been around gets a win over you. And, it was back and forth not a "miracle win!

Yet, I am not ready to put down the entire conference! Teams get better as the year goes on; even ones that look bad early in the year! The L still counts unfortunately though!

How do you get we (Wake) don’t care about football? We have invested millions of dollars into upgrading our facilities over the last ten years and we’ve certainly improved. Not much we can do about our student enrollment we had the largest student turnout in a decade tonight. Getting locals raised on the blues to come watch us please. Wake always gets picked on for our small fanbase. We have less than 40k living alumni. UNC, Duke, and even NCSU will always be more have a brand than us even though we’ve owned them the better part of the last 20 years. There are passionate Wake fans out there and we want to improve to give y’all a run. Now bigger universities are recruiting our best players look at MSU’s starting every bad 260yd 4 tds tonight. Does his name sound familiar yea he split time on our team the last two years and we knew he was a special talent. What steps outside of becoming a diploma mill and upping our student body to 60k can we do to show you we care?

ACC schools "DO" care; but

Sep 4, 2021, 9:33 AM

Success is measured in championships only if you are not a part of the propaganda machine. Does Vanderbilt care more than Duke(bad example probably)? Is Ole Miss winning a championship every year or or they on every now and then losing to a FCS opponent too? Or a G5 school? San Jose State says hello Arkansas!
Jacksonville State, Georgia Southern just to name a couple have gotten wins over SEC schools; yet the propaganda isn't about the "entire SEC"!
I.M.O that is the part I can't get. How people ignore the bowl records some years of SEC opponents or these losses OOC. None of which supports the narrative that: top to bottom you have all schools who care more therefore it makes the play better top to bottom"!
Wrong! Not the Case! Like most conferences they are top heavy!

The ACC is going through just a weird point where Clemson is so far ahead of the 2nd best team it looks like H.S. playing middle school.
I would argue in most years since Saban has been at Alabama - they have the same hold on the SEC though. Nobody is talking about that. About how nobody can beat that one team. Propaganda and brainwashing at it's best! It's straight contradiction to not recognize the same thing if you are being consistent or trying to be to not call it out.

Losing and not caring are not the same thing. If you were a high school football player, would you want to go to Duke? Schools like Duke, Wake, and Syracuse do the best they can do. Just compare them to our basketball program. We care but have a hard time winning.

Re: Screw the ACC

Sep 3, 2021, 11:15 PM

Look. Like most on this board, I want Clemson to be in the ACC. Unfortunately things have changed. NIL is the biggest, players are now getting paid like it or not. Playing in the big games means more money. Players will go to school where they can make the most money. When half of Clemson's games are against schools that can't fill a 30,000 seat stadium that's a problem. TRUTH, these schools don't care football. Clemson needs to worry about Clemson and not the ACC

Charlotte may be a group of 5 school but they are playing pretty good football. Will Healy got them to their first bowl game in 2019. 2020 was a wash of course and now they just earned their first win against a power 5 team. Coach Healy is an up and comer that Coach Swinney has praised very highly. He won’t be at Charlotte very long. He will be a power 5 coach soon enough.

Re: Screw the ACC

Sep 3, 2021, 11:28 PM

Agree. Charlotte is on the way. It's just one game. I'm talking about where these ACC teams are in comparison to the top teams in other conferences. Duke, WF, Syracuse, BC, Miami and a few others cannot fill a stadium. Truth is they don't care about football. Sure the Miami fans will come out if they are 8-0. Like 35,000 maybe. The football schools in the ACC need to really take a look at what's going on. The basketball schools have been in charge way too long.
