NIL

Dec 15, 2021, 11:58 AM

Needs to have a cap. There should be some type of Cap on NIL so College football does not become 100% pay for play. 200k a year cap per player on total NIL deals. Maybe a lil lower or higher. I'm not a fan of NIL but I get that the NCAA has been profiting billions off these kids for decades and some of these kids could really use the money to help their family out.

The NCAA has left it to the states to decide their own NIL laws. I looked over most of them and a main point is that there is no cap/limit on what a player can be paid. The NCAA has left it to each individual state to make their own NIL laws and regulate their own schools. The only way anything is changing is if the federal government steps in and I doubt that will ever happen.

Correct.

I don't see anyway Congress could agree on anything. Liberals don't want to cap, hell they prefer players create a union. Conservatives, like those from Texas are fine just the way it is...Texas teams are big winners with the $

I was actually surprised at how in depth they were in making sure players had no NIL limit. It's even against the law forming a conference of teams that dont participate in NIL. If you try to limit a players NIL in anyway its against the law.

Probably not.

Same arguement as before NIL - how would you like a cap placed on how much you could be paid?
before the cap was - can be paid nothing (except scholarship, etc). no $$. So,if that (zero) was unfair, the same arguement could be made of putting a cap on it.

Even if the NCAA has been profiting Billions as they say that is not a reason to pay players!
Now I personally think a person should be able to make whatever they can make off of their Name Image and likeness.
If they want to get paid for playing football then go to a professional league!
As far as people needing money that’s kind is a racist thing! Heck I need money and that’s why I work everyday! Those players if they need money go get a job like the rest of us!

They need to understand how much an education is worth and what they are already getting!

I am afraid the game is ruined!

A racist thing? Everything's racist now...lol that's ridiculous to assume I meant anything racist. Any person of any race can be coming up poor.

And football players average over 40 hours per week in their sport so that doesn't leave you much time for a job. Heck when I played college football it was against the rules to even work and why I quit. I had no money. Then they changed it to you had to have permission from the school/athletic director to work. Letting the athletes work is more of a recent thing.

I guess the IRS will now get their share. Since these are now paid athletes, would they be required to include their scholarships and the value of the use of school's facilities, etc. as taxable goods and services received?
