Pretty Convincing Scam Attempt

Nov 20, 2022, 10:41 AM

I have been looking for tickets for the USC game and got hit up Friday with 2 separate offers. Both were scams, but one of them was particularly convincing. I asked them to send me a screenshot of the tickets and they did. It looked lake a Ticketmaster ticket with section, row, and seat. Problem was, the seat they showed does not exist! I only knew that because I have been sitting close by for many years. 99% would never have known. When I challenged them they claimed that the stadium had been extended to include this seat!

Use app to ID scammers?

Nov 20, 2022, 11:17 AM

I posted on Tigernet that I was looking for tickets. These 2 scammers saw my ad and contacted me. They wanted me to send money and they would send tickets ( Ticketmaster). Not sure what app would sort through a scam like this?

Maybe I missed something- wouldn't be the first time. If there is an app that can help spot scammers I would love to learn about it. Of course, I use Ticketmaster and Stubhub, but I'm not aware of a feature to keep someone from taking your money and not sending tickets. It happens all the time, not yet to me, but if there is further help......

Scammers look for people posting ticket wanted ads. Look at the tickets for sale on the Tigernet ticket page and find a long time member who has posted the info on the tickets they have for sale. I have never had a problems with anyone who is has been a Tigernet member for more than 8-10 years. Posting a tickets wanted ad is inviting scammers to contact you.
