They basically gut the rules and then want to reemerge and police them. Truely unbelievable

I believe they need to have some sort of governance over this stuff. If not the NCAA then the conference’s. Not sure what the mindset was going into this and how things were going to be monitored.

Precisely…now they want to give the appearance of concern…

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING will happen or change with this investigation.

The slippery slope has now been reached. Nothing to do now but enjoy the ride to the bottom of the hill.

Meanwhile in SEC country they are openly bragging about paying players. Wonder why the NCAA is focused on a couple of irrelevant programs who are way behind the curve on all of this?

Well when you are talking about the SEC then it is all ok. What we folks in the ACC just do not understand is that it means more to SEC folks.

Because they are not the SEC. It just means more. . .

It's nuts that their rule is you cant give an athlete a NIL contract because he chose a certain school. What a dumb rule because that is exactly what NIL is doing. Nike/Phil Knight/Oregon, Texas/boosters, Miami. At some point if we dont give our 5 star players 50 grand per year we will start signing a lot less of them.

50 grand? That won't land five stars for long. NIL and transfer portal combined are going to open door up to some huge "salary" deals.

its 150 next year for all lineman on scholorship. Thats guaranteed before individual deals.

Maybe IPTAY has to adapt its mission and financing

They should be able to put something in place. Not really much incentive for academics at this point.

Texas is openly flaunting how they are going to funnel money to players.

If allowing some local boosters or companies to give every team member a benefit then stick a fork in collegiate athletics it’s done. There was already enough corruption going on before Nil.

Bryce Young had 1 million dollars of deals before he even played a down at Alabama. This is just getting stupid.

Imagine if between now and signing day we lose Cade because someone offers him 1.5 million to go to Texas or Oregon. Thats life changing money at 18.

NCAA can't do much because every state is different Based on the legislation passed by the state.

New policies are just that and there will likely be revisions and NIL moves forward. One important thing to remember however, is once you give someone a benefit, it is very hard to take it away.

Miami and BYU made one mistake.

They should have contacted Bama and said, "Hey guys, this is a deal we have in the works. Why don't y'all get some booster to set up a similar deal?"

If Bama or Ohio State or Notre Dame set up this deal it obviously would be legal.

LOL @ NIL "Violations"

Dec 11, 2021, 2:29 PM

NIL is just a transition period to when players can be paid by outside entities without any restrictions. These probes are just the beginning.

Lawyers are crafting cases of targeted violations of NIL wanting the NCAA to sue. The Supreme Court will use at least one of these cases to blow up NIL completely and remove all restrictions for player compensation.

It make take 4-5 years to get there, but that is the final destination.

I don't know what to think. As an idealist, I don't like NIL. As a realist, it is kind of fair. I guess I agree with Spurrier on this. Why should the coaches make millions, the universities make millions, and the sports no one cares about; be funded, on the backs of the football players who do not get paid?

Lol, Texas brazenly takes a dump on ethics and the rules and NCAA ignores it. Instead, lets they after programs with less clout.

Agree Agent. The face of college football has/is changing. “The rich gets richer and the poorer gets poorer.” This may force some Universities to gut their program just because they cannot keep up anymore.
