Prayers for UVA

Nov 14, 2022, 6:55 PM

I've been posting prayers for our guys for the last 11 weeks. Tonight, Coach Elliot and his team, his university, his students, his "kids" need all of our prayers. One of those young men was a local to me, having lived and played high school ball just down the street from where I work. People I know knew him, speak exceptionally highly of him and are mourning his tragic loss. I am sure that each of those young men have had similar impacts on their communities.
please continue to offer your support for the Cavalier community and for Coach Elliot and the UVA. Just heartbreaking.

not wanting any kind of political response to this. If you feel inclined to make this political, please create your own post and go at it. Just don't do it here.

Re: Prayers for UVA

I just finished reading Irwin Lutzer's "One Minute After You Die." None of us know when God is going to call us out of this world. But, we will leave someday. Could be cancer, an accident, a shooting. The author says that God is in control of when we enter and when we leave this planet. Somehow, someway, all of these things, even terrible shootings, are within the framework of His redemptive plan. Hard for me to wrap my head around it all, but I do believe that some good will come out of this. Even harder for me to pray for the person who did this. All I can ask at this point is that dear God, please comfort the family and friends of those who are gone. And please help the UVA community during this time of tremendous grief. I hope and pray that the love of Christ will shine through brightly in all of this. And that You will grab a hold of this person and save his life. In Christ's name, amen.
