I’m in Greenville and my wife is taking our 7 year old German shepherd mix “Mookie” to the vet back in TN.

He’s started whining a little recently when barely touched and today won’t go up or down stairs and not eating. . Just hoping for something minor—-I lost our last dog while I was out of town and I really hope to never have that happen again.

Been. Lumbrosacral disease. Affects large breeds and mainly German shepherds, with average onset at 7 years. He’s like a poster dog for it.

“Bed rest” and no steps for 2 weeks and anti-inflammatories. Trying to figure out the best way for my wife to get a 95 pound dog outside to use the bathroom a few times a day without steps coming into play.

Appreciate the concern folks—disaster averted.
