Power 3

May 16, 2023, 2:41 PM

It seems to me the writing is on the wall, when the dust settles there will be 3 power conferences. B1G, SEC and Big 12.

The Big 12 will take any schools willing to seriously invest in their football program that don't land in the B1G or SEC. It will end up being a "national" conference from a geographical point. It will probably end up being 20-24 schools. This will allow them to compete for a lucrative TV contract against the SEC and B1G if for anything else, a strength in numbers.

Got to think the B1G adds Washington, Oregon, Colorado and Utah which sinks the PAC10/12.

The ACC should have merged with the Big XII before they

added the Group of 5 teams.

With a Conference that was situated geographically in between the SEC and the B1G, there would have been plenty of advantages. There's also enough large State schools left in that list to make it competitive: UNC, UVA, Pitt, Clemson, FSU, NC State, Va Tech, Ga Tech, Iowa State, Okie State, Kansas State, Texas Tech, WVU.

TCU's location in Dallas/FW would also have been meaningful.

Youre kidding right?

That league would be an absolute joke compared to the B1G and the SEC. The only teams in the entire league that truly play elite football on a consistent basis are Clemson and FSU. The rest of them are mostly cannon fodder in their respective leagues. I do not, for the life of me, understand you guys that think you can just pick up the scrub left overs that the SEC and Big didnt want and create some kind of relevant conference.

The only truly relevant conferences will be the SEC and B1G. The mega Big 12 would be for every other school willing to seriously fund their football programs. Every year there will be a TCU, Cincinnati, etc. that will have the stars and moons align and have a great season who will make the CFP.

Also, for the record, I am not implying that is where we land. We will end up in either the SEC or B1G. We are a national brand that any conference would love to have.

itself as the B1G has won combined.

Now what again were you saying about competing?

In fact, the only variable that destroys that comparison is really just Nick Saban himself. If you throw him out, no one school has dominated in any way.

In the future, it'll be more about dollars than unicorn Head Coaches like Dabo and Nick, but you still have to put the product on the field - just ask Texas A&M.

Or you can just get on your knees and blow the SEC because you're scared to compete. Have at it.
