Ohio State Defense

Ohio State Defense
The Buckeyes will present a huge challenge to the Clemson offense Saturday night in the Fiesta Bowl. Ohio State is perhaps the finest defense Clemson has faced this season.

They have a very respected staff including former NFL head coach Greg Schwann as their defensiv

Just a couple name corrections: Greg Schiano* and Gareon* Conley.

The Defensive line also includes Nick Bosa, that last name may be familiar. It's a very young group but they have played very well this year.

Malik Hooker is undersold here in this article. Not intentionally, just didn't tell the whole story. Had 6 or 7 INTs and three official pick-sixes (a 4th against Indiana came back for a dubious block below the waist call). Conley and Lattimore are 1st round talents as is Hooker.

One weakness which Clemson will key on because of their deep WR/TE group and spread offense style is the nickle and dime corners. There is a significant dropoff between CB1/CB2 and the nickle and dime corners. If Renfrow, Ray Ray, and Scott play like they are capable they could very well feast on poor coverage from the backup corners.

Also, believe he meant Jerome Baker instead of Dante Booker - Baker took over at outside linebacker when Dante Booker got injured in the first game, and kept the job. He had a pick-six against Oklahoma. and 15 tackles, a pick and a tackle-for-loss against Michigan. He's fast and good in coverage for a LB.

Here's what I know....

Have seen the buckeye defense in half a dozen games this season. I'd have watched another, but they haven't played as many games as the Tigers have. They're very good....And are probably close to as good as 'Bama's defense was in the last game of last season....They're probably as good as we've played this season....Probably....But one thing I know for absolutely certain:

When this Tiger offense is clicking, they're as close to unstoppable as I can remember a college team being outside of a couple of those Oregon teams some years ago. There's not Clemson fan alive that's seen these guys play the last couple of years who doesn't believe this phenomenal assemblage of talent can score on any team they play....And dare I say, no Clemson fan would be shocked to see this offense have a game in which they scored on every drive.....This entire season, it's rarely been a defense thats stopped the Tiger offense.....It's been themselves.

It'll be interesting to watch another group of assistant coaches try to come up with a scheme to offset the talent on Clemson's offensive 2-deep

This team and this staff have been in some BIG, BIG games the last couple of years and won ALL of them save one....This OhioSt team has yet to be in a pressure-filled championship game situation where the outcome hinged on one driving score or one defensive stop.

I'm sure it'll be an entertaining, hard-fought game by both squads. Good luck to the buckeyes and hoping for zero injuries

OSU may very well slow us down a bit...but I don't think that they have the offense for it to make a difference.....
