Why is anybody testing any players?

Sep 2, 2021, 10:47 AM

The vaccine is widely available. Players can make their choice. Spot the ball.

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.” ? C. S. Lewis

The vaccine, has apparently changed nothing as far as the testing and forcing players out of games.

Player safety related to Myocarditis is a serious issue

Sep 2, 2021, 12:54 PM [ in reply to So if a kid feels pain in his knee and the staff ]

So serious that medical staff intensely monitor this condition in all players regardless of whether a player tests positive. If this whole scenario was related to Myocarditis the protocols and policies would be vastly different.

It goes beyond just players. It is campus life.

And yes, that age is low risk, but morbidity still happens.

But that isn't the thing. Fact, not everyone is vaccinated by a long shot. Ok, you say that is on them if they get sick. But, hospitals are full, patients in my area (regional referral area for Clemson) are being roomed in hallways, being discharged on high flow oxygen to make room. So is does affect those who are vaccinated by cancelling elective surgeries, or if needing admission for anything else (drive safe out there).

cal folks are dealing with right now, but to think this will be solved by not letting the players play football is ludicrous. They will get it whether its on the football field or somewhere else. Unfortunately, rapid mass spread is the only way to get on the other side of this thing. Thank goodness we have the vaccine now so that fewer people will die. We delayed the inevitable, but the situation you describe has to happen. About a month to go and we can all breathe freely if trends continue.

i get your sentiment, and if true, Davis is being sidelined more on univ policy and not athletic policies, if that makes sense. Fact is if he is positive, he shouldn't play, just the discovery of the fact is the question.

I personally am seeing a favorable trend in my % positive tests, and office volume is lower the last few days. That might be my own little micro-environment, but hopefully is positive, and maybe in this area, less than a month. Those in the northeast may be in for it over next few weeks though.

It really didn't have to happen this way if more got vaccinated, but facts are facts.

at even if I made a different choice. If there are widespread long term consequences that are currently unknowable there may come a day in the future where people wish that not so many people got vaccinated. People making personal choices is the only way to move forward in wisdom. Unfortunately wisdom is only gained from comparing outcomes. If everyone gets vaccinated we'll have no control group for what might have been. The vaccinated and unvaccinated need each other. For the sake of humankind each group should leave the other one alone.

If you are indeed a doctor

Sep 2, 2021, 1:00 PM [ in reply to Re: This certainly is an issue and I'm sorry for what the medi ]

Then you know the PCR test was not designed for Covid. It was developed for HIV. And as a doctor, an MD, you are not an expert in virology nor epidemiology nor the PCR test. But experts that are saying we should not be randomly testing people unless they have symptoms. The PCR test is a joke. It should not be used to randomly test and screen someone in the absence of symptoms.

It has a very high false positive problem not to mention if you don’t have the underlying report showing how many cycles it took to get to that positive test then the reality is the test is meaningless. A lot of experts think 25 cycles, it seems 27 is more of the general consensus, certainly anything over 30 cycles and you are not sick and you’re not gonna be sick and you’re not contagious because you do not have Covid!

And I would be willing to bet a lot of people millions and millions are over 27 or 30 cycles being told and treated as if they are carrying and spreading Covid! And that is total nonsense and a lie!

Cove it is not as deadly as other viruses over the past 20 years. Children and young people especially under the age of 25 do in fact have a higher risk factor from the seasonal flu than Covid. That is a fact!

Every year thousands of healthy children die from the flu. In nearly 24 months roughly 1200 people under the age of 25 in America have died from Covid and the overwhelming majority of them had serious health issues including obesity and diabetes.

Covid is nowhere near as dangerous for people under the age of 25 as the seasonal flu. We need to stop the fear #### and stop this ridiculousness! Because it is not based on science or the data!

Out of 1535 beds at one hospital group here in WinstonSalem only under 500 patients all together. More than half the patients are vaccinated.
