Play clock question

Dec 4, 2022, 3:25 PM

Near the end of first half when UNC was trying to score but use up the clock, refs stopped play for injury to Henry. When clock was started, UNC was given a full 40 seconds on the play clock and used most of it. I thought there would have been 25.

In the second half, there was a similar situation when Clemson had the ball and UNC had an injury. 40 seconds were put on the play clock, so they were consistent.

Should it have been 25 or 40?

Had it been an injury on the offensive side it would have been 25 seconds.
Not going to penalized/rush the offense for a defensive injury.

Thanks for the reply. It does make sense. I just have not noticed it before.
