Will Watson have to have another surgery?

Oct 15, 2014, 9:15 AM

After the season to remove the pins they placed Monday or do they leave those in permantly? I have never had or known anyone that had to have a break pinned so am unsure about how that works.

I've had plates and screws in my forearm for 22 years. Most times, for normal folks, they stay in. In the case of a high profile athlete?

Do you chit yourself and wake up 3 days later when you get too close to the microwave?

I broke my thumb a few years and had to have pins put in it(actually woke up as they were doing the last pin, not a good sound)...After it was healed the pins were taken out at the Dr's office by his nurse...had a shot of novocaine and she used a scalpel and what looked like needle nose pliers to take them out

It helps heal faster and more accurately

My 6 yr old daughter had a 5 inch pin put into her forearm and removed. It was an elective surgery but so glad we chose to do it. She recovered faster and the break is literally invisible on xray

Pins are removed, screws stay

I broke my finger playing D2 college ball. 2 screws right above my knuckle. They are still in there, and I have never had an issue with them.

Yep - as others have said - they'll stay.

Broke my ankle being stupid when I was a senior in HS and had 2 screws put in. 17 years later and they're still there - no issues.

Not before the south carolina game.
