Switched up the fishing strategy this weekend (Hartwell)

Instead of trolling .07mph (have had poor luck w this since water temp so warm) we decided to anchor lock in a cove 40-50 feet of water. Still used live herring but put them about 5 feet from the bottom.

Caught 13 yesterday morning. About half catfish and the other half Stripers and hybrids. Very productive. I didn’t personally reel in a fish but the 9 YO, 11 YO and wife were very happy w the fishing charter…

Nothing like doing all the work and letting others reel in the fish. But alas that’s part of being a Dad.

Plus had to fillet 3 catfish and then fry them up.

But McJr (8) caught his first striper last week all by himself power reeling a bucktail on 10 lb test - Striper 7.5 lbs.

This week should be the best week for me, but weather and plans aren't helping me get out.

Mainly b/c we have a mutual friend. I just won't be taking my boat back to them.

I'm still riding around with a giant dent in the back corner b/c I haven't noticed any handling issues and don't want to be without the boat right now.

Most the cats and Stripers were about 4-6 pounds of the other 12. Love those scales w the clasp on them for release and weighing.

I should try some spoons here soon. Last year late July and then Aug I started catching some really large catfish near the bottom w herring in the deep channels. Largest was 45 pounds.
