Personal Note on Previous Two Natty’s

As you can tell, I just joined Tigernet as a member, but I have watched the boards and surfed this website for many years. I grew up in a family who loves and cheers for the tigers — no matter what sport is playing. My brother and mom were very into Clemson football (so am I). Back in the spring of 2016, my brother (who was 35 at the time), struggled with an alcohol addiction, and that June he passed away. He loved Clemson football with a passion like no other. I still wear his DW4 jersey I got right after he passed away. Luckily, our lucky stars aligned, and as you know, the Tigers won the championship that year. Sad to see it without him, but I know he was watching above. Flash forward to 2018, my mom committed suicide due to health problems she had recently faced. She passed away in February of ‘18. Well, of course, that following year Clemson dominated Bama in the natty and took home the gold. Again, I’m sad I couldn’t watch it with her, but the stars aligned once more. So, those championships mean so much more to me personally than anything else. No matter what your going through, look for the good in any situation. Sorry for my Ted Talk.

So saddened about your two personal losses of such close family members within a few years but glad Clemson football was a love of theirs as it is with you too.
Stay in touch and post more often since you sound interesting, grounded & a super Tiger Fan for the exciting future.

RHP, thank you for sharing your personal story. I remember once when I was a kid that a random woman was really nasty to my dad in a donut shop. Instead of reacting in anger, my dad asked her if everything was okay and if she needed help. She broke down in tears and she shared with my dad that they were traveling through our town and her husband suddenly has taken ill and had been admitted to the hospital. She did not have much money and did not know where to turn. My dad and mom did not have much money but they put this lady and her kids up in a local motel for a few days until her husband was released and the neighbors all pitched in to help with meals. It taught me that you never know what personal struggles people may be dealing with, and before we judge we should think about that. I am sorry that your brother and mom had those struggles and I pray that they are in a better place and for you I pray for grace.

I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in Oct 2010, but one of my first prayers was to see Clemson win a Natty again before I passed. I had hugh hopes for Dat-boy! In 2012, I was given 6-9mos, I thought I was going to be cheated put of seeing another Natty for my beloved Tigers.
That said, I have seen 2 since then but I was afraid that after I was blessed with the first one, maybe my time has come but Dabo has brought me 2. My cancer recently started growing again and I start chemo right after the holidays AGAIN after almost 100 treatments. But I think I am going to ask for another prayer to include seeing another Natty for Clemson before its my time. Maybe it will buy me a couple and at least another 10yrs of health after this next series of treatments.
So I can relate how great days of Clemson football can have personal meanings in many ways. Welcome aboard and have thick skin because some call you a Coot just because you are a newbie. It's basically your initiation with hazing.

RHP and ICATiger thanks for your stories and the inspiration they bring. Sports gives me a few hours from the real world. But now I see that it can also be something that keeps you going. You both are strong people and my prayers will include you both. God Bless and Go Tigers
