Yep, If he doesn't like the NIL $ amount, back to N.C. St. No harm, no foul. It will be commonplace. Nothing but free agency, every year for every sport. After a great year, why not put yourself into the portal for the highest bidder? You can always go back to your old school (without penalty) if you don't like the offered NIL dollars. It's the new NIL world we live in. Maybe a Dutch Auction system should be put in place for all students in the portal.

I appears to me that the author inserted talk of NIL but provided no evidence that it was part of the portal decision. The author simply projects their thoughts only using the news of the transfer as an opening to tell us what his thinks

... but, he makes a good point about how NIL might help college programs to mitigate the lure of pro ball when recruiting great high school players.
Right now, the amount of money a lot of kids take to skip college is not particularly high.
NIL might make some these talented kids think twice about jumping on a minor league contract straight out of high school.

Be helpful instead of leaving college with student loans like most baseball players do given the ridiculous limits on that sport
