CFP: What's the feeling going to be when...

one of the real contenders suffers a catastrophic injury to a key player in the first or second round?

So far the CFP has had numerous blowouts and not much in the way of upsets, but the extra game(s) obviously raises the likelihood of an upset.

What's the feeling going to be if a Cinderella makes a run and wins it (with or without a key injury to another team)? Seems like folks are OK with that possibility in basketball, but in football?

I'm guessing a future upset winner is going to be talked about with a big asterisk, forever.

Mikey was out for the season after the first game. With those two healthy, I am firmly convinced we would have gone back to back in 2015 and 2016. We got about all we could hope for out of the "Kelly Bryant Year" in 2017. Three out of four would have been Saban-like.

but you're right. People think that b/c they love the sport, that MORE! MORE! MORE! is always an unqualified and universal good. Plus there's the money and the posturing and angling for power and influence. But it's just all too much. You're right, if and when that happens, there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth, and the objections and bemoaning of the result will not be wrong or incorrect in it's assessment, but there will be a lot of critics of it who mindlessly supported the changes that ushered in that result.

Admittedly, I don't think this will be a very common result, but it'll be made more likely than previously was possible.

Only the fans of the Champion really care after the Playoffs are over but at the end of the day, they don't get a vote. If the point is to simply have the best team win, just have a 2 team playoff but if the point is to give other teams a chance the way every other sport does then you need at least 8. That is what sport is.
