Check this out that idiot Fauci is reducing the 6 ft to 3 ft

That makes no sense on any level. Fauci needs to retire.
Masks don't work, you need an N-95, no wait, masks work!, no wait, we need to double mask because science! Hey lets reduce the magical 6 feet to 3 feet! More Science!
https://www.yahoo.com/news/fauci-us-weighs-3-foot-144239918.htmlhttps://media.zenfs.com/en/afp.com/2521278d2216d89a6c1c79f385e42420"> Fauci: US weighs 3-foot distancing rule, a major change The United States' top pandemic advisor said Sunday that authorities were considering cutting social distancing rules to three feet (one meter), a move that would change a key tenet of the global fight against Covid-19.

People do realize that Dr. Fauci is just the public face

Of the thousands of scientists who have been laboring over learning more about this pandemic, and adjusting recommendations as they learn more information? A change like this would be a product of their incredible work. It's not about Dr. Fauci.
Dr. Fauci is in the unenviable position of being forced to be the foremost mouthpiece for mostly bad news over the last year. God bless him. I hope he does retire, but only after this is over. He should be proud of what he has done.

Terrible excuse for what is supposed to be a senior government official.
It is HIS job to weed through the BS and only tell the public information that is solid, vetted, etc. and consistent. If he is not smart enough to know what is solid and consistent then he should step down. It's not like this is the first time someone has dealt with unknowns.
And if he wants to spew out unvalidated information then his every other sentence should be a caveat explaining why we don't know for sure what we should be doing.

There is an dilemma here that rears its head on more issues than just this. This is an observation of mine that is certainly open to scrutiny.
It seems to me that conservatives/reactionaries operate more on a concrete level. They seem much more comfortable with definitive, immutable (right) answers. They seem to struggle with ideas that are dynamic and/or fluid. The concept that our understanding of Covid is constantly changing (based on new evidence) is, to them, evidence of a wrong answer.
Again, this observation is not limited to Covid. I find it a consistent thread in many of our arguments here.

I agree with you Tobias. Just funny to me that the Libs making every excuse in the book for fauci, didn’t do the same for Trump.

Mt.
I think the difference is that Fauci is changing his position based on the changing scientific data.
I don't think I can say the same for Trump.

T3
I take your point, but there is a phrase involved here which you will rarely see in the headlines or in the bullet points - and that phrase is: with all of the data we have available at this time.
Every time the scientists do further study, I assure you that they are putting caveats and limitations on their findings that do not make the news stories. I do not know the specifics on this particular issue, but I trust that the scientists are doing their best to present an accurate and unbiased perspective.
You are claiming that they are wrong or inconsistent - OK. So if they were wrong, can you be specific. What were they wrong about ? Is it possible that rather than wrong, they have gotten new or more complete data that has caused them to modify their understanding ?
The same goes for inconsistent. Given the date that we have available at this time (about covid viruses, in general) here is how far apart you should keep away from others. Now that we have more data about THIS particular virus, we are saying that you may be safe being closer.
T3, I am not challenging you for evidence or proof. I am trying to make a point about the dynamic nature of scientific knowledge, especially in these circumstances. It seems to me (correct me if I am wrong) that your position about them being wrong or inconsistent has to be based on a belief that they are either incompetent or biased. I just do not think either of those things is true.

Not to mention children in schools are much more rational

and compliant than your average adult these days. The studies were all conducted in schools WITH mask requirements. And the students wear them, like 100%, and the teachers too. And who would have known, cases are lower in schools than in the general community of "adults" who don't listen to advice. By roughly the same percentage.
And elementary schools are the safest, followed by middle schools. High schools are a different matter, but still with everyone on the same page, it can work.
Lots of adults need to go back to school it seems.

elementary school children. Haven't recent studies shown that kids are like half as susceptible to COVID as adults and have much lower transmission rates? Much of which has been attributed to underdeveloped sinuses, among other things.

No one in the government is saying what you are allowed to do in your home on July 4th. Certainly Dr. Fauci and the CDC have zero power to do so. He's asked his scientific opinion, and he gives it. He has no power to actually keep anyone from doing anything.

use the information available to them to make decisions about local regulations. That's for anything, not just a pandemic. It is not in the CDC's scope to evaluate anything other than health issues. They should not be considering economic impacts, "freedom" impacts, or anything other than health impacts.
