Graduation Gift time

May 16, 2022, 10:15 AM

How much cash are you giving to your high school graduate nieces, nephews, friend's kids, etc.

I just received a graduation announcement from my cousin's kid who I've met less than 5 times in their life. Was going to send $50, but they will attend FSU in the fall, so I might send some Clemson swag instead.

Get them "oh the places you'll go" by Dr. Seuss and a $15

gift certificate to Crab du Joir. I'm sure they have one down there, they're popping up like kudzu around here.

The best graduation gift you could possibly give this child

May 16, 2022, 10:24 AM

would be a long, heartfelt hand-written letter that outlines all of your accumulated advice from having made your own incredible journey from childhood to being a mostly-functional adult.

I know it was implied but he might not have picked up on it

May 16, 2022, 10:25 AM

it should be written in blood.

Agree completely.

Kids today might make much better choices if only they got more advice from well-meaning adults. It's a big void.

My niece turns 18 in 2 weeks, graduates a week later, and is

going to Clemson.

We already bought her a really nice (and f*cking overpriced dress) for her senior pictures and took her out to a nice lunch when wife and daughter took her shopping. We have probably bought $100 in Clemson gear AT LEAST since she decided to go there (parents are Gamecock fans) and we will probably buy more this weekend. All in, we will push $500 or more for her. If she wasn't going to Clemson, it might be less.

Son of opened a bundle this weekend.

$50 seems to be the going rate, but it blew my mind a little how many hundos he got from classmate's parents.

Given how many of these gifts came from people in his graduating class who will also be getting reciprocal gifts from us, it seems like it would have been easier for me to just write my son a bigasss check and cut out the middleman.

That's sorta like a Christmas morning one of my friends told

May 16, 2022, 11:11 AM

me about as his marriage was crumbling into divorce. He came downstairs, handed her $1000 in cash and said "Sorry, I've been too busy at work to go shopping, go get yourself something nice". She responded 'Well, the kids have been driving me crazy, and I didn't get a chance to get you anything either"... handed him the $1000 back and said "You go get yourself something nice".

Quick, simple, no hassle Christmas shopping for spouse.....

Share some halftime interview wisdom from Bobby Bowden, “Dadgummit, we almost had’em, peanuts, poster nutbag….Easter bunny.”

Thanks coach, back to you Joe.

May 16, 2022, 11:43 AM

She's going to Clemson, woo hoo!
