When will we actually receive a player from the Portal?

I'm pretty sure we hold the record for the most to enter it without getting a single player from it. Obviously it has to be someone that is capable of getting some significant PT or else it defeats the whole purpose.

Seems as though we have to go for A QB now.

Why are so many on this board so anxious to get other schools’ rejects, egotists and quitters? Go look at the Portal and see how many players you find that will actually help us. There are not many.

Because not replacing the ones leaving is killing the depth on this team.

Look at past championships and top teams and look at who has played important roles on those teams. They are transfers. Kyler murray, baker mayfield, joe burrow, cam newton. Heck bamas top wr is a transfer from Ohio state. Yeah 90% of the teams should be recruited from high school but 10% transfers wouldn’t be bad especially at areas of needs.

players "leaving" Clemson through the portal, not coming to Clemson through the Transfer Portal. Therefore, as of today, I am not aware of player coming to Clemson through the Transfer Portal.

Goodness, stop with the incoming portal BS

Show me the list of players in the portal that are willing to come to Clemson and sit as backups. The portal only helps Clemson for depth issues - or an odd situation. The players who would be good enough to make the 2- 3 deep - do not want to sit. Bama, Ohio state, Clemson will not get many portal players. They all will have players going into the portal due to players being passed on depth chart. Before you bring up the linebacker from Tn that went to Bama - yes, very unusual. Then, bring up Fields from Ga to Ohio state. Ok, due to lack of talent at Ohio state and racist behavior at Ga. Ohio state had several, including burrow, transfer out. Ga took our disciplinary player.
If someone like Dillion Gabriel said he wanted to come, compete, and perhaps beat out DJU and an incoming 5 star, let’s do it. But he will want a guarantee he will start. Not going to happen at Clemson.
So, what position group do you see huge voids in that portal can fill? They don’t exist.

Possibly, but you can’t sit on your hands and not replace the players you’ve lost this late in the game , or even worse, replace them with a walk-on or a borderline HS player that you’re now stuck with on the books for the next 4-5 years. You take a guy from the portal as a stop gap for a year, maybe two, and offer them the chance to compete. I think it’s too late in the process this year to replace our guys with quality HS players, so we’re going to need to go the transfer route.
