Totally agree 👍. I predicted a 9-3 record prior to the season, with Va. Tech being one of the losses.

I guess you consider David Hood pathetic as well. I believe he predicted a pre season loss at Va. Tech as well.

Last in every special team category and get ANOTHER FG blocked, this time for a TD. That is a coaching staff that is either inept, or deliberately ignorant; and that sums up most of our other problems as well.
Our #1 RB is obviously injured, and there is NO ONE to come in as a back up?
Absolute failure.

Phil is slow....period...so what you get out of him is what you get even when's 100%...he's not going to take runs to the house.

P.Mafah is an excellent pass blocker. His reputation, as far as the opposing coaches are concerned, makes his presence in the Clemson backfield a reason to fear the Clemson run game.
Our coaches really know the situation re Mafah’s health. The opposing coaches may have had suspicions that Mafah was not up to his peak-strength head banging self, but they didn’t know. If we decided to attempt a pass to keep the chains moving, Mafah’s presence would make their DBs play closer to the LOS, thereby improving our chance of completing a safe pass.
Xxxxxxx
And for the ‘Mafah runs out of bounds instead of delivering / taking the hit’ criticism, don’t forget another consideration: Fumble risk.
Anyone know the best way for a RB to avoid fumbles? You know it. Don’t take unnecessary hits.

Mafah had to be hurt against Va Tech. There were way too many runs out of bounds and wiffed blocks. He it was like he was deliberately trying to avoid contact. But I think his character is too good for it to be selfish behavior.

The still broken FG unit is inexcusable. So many obvious problems that even us dumb-a$$ fans could (at least since the FSU game) that the coaches should have recognized (at least the low trajectory of Hauser’s kicks) in fall practice of earlier.
Of course I’m not advocating to ‘fire Dabo.’
I just wonder where his head is.

Not sure why we didn't put anyone else in. We could have have put our practice squad RB in and still had success. There's a reason why every team has run on va tech. They're 85th or something close to that. We act like this is some dominant frank beamer defense. It's not.
As to the original post. I wouldn't classify it as a "great win" in a hostile environment. Let's keep it real, va tech is a middle pack .500 acc team that most of their fans want the coach fired because he's so inept.
Of course our run D numbers look great. They only ran 5 RB plays and 5 designed qb runs.

We are going to need major help to get to the playoffs this year, and it would take monumental improvement for us to have a decent shot of making any noise there.
Most of the goals I read here prior to the season ranged from winning the national championship to winning the ACC to making the playoffs. Based on that, I’d say we are likely to have another disappointing season (our fourth in a row).

This first half play and the last game had to be some of the worst football our Tigers have played in a long time. It was 5 quarters of really poorly coached and bad football. This is where the concerns come in.

Can’t argue with that.
3 Qtrs of terrible FB to close out the LOU game and two Qtrs of bad FB to open up the VA Tech game.
Our FG unit’s play is so bad that a paranoid fan might think that our coaching staff is giving us the metaphorical bird every time we attempt a FG.
(I gotta go before they come and get me.)

This is true. I’m glad we won, but it doesn’t put my concerns to bed. We played 6 quarters of absolutely pathetically coached football.

This weird sect of Clemson fans who rage at the idea that the ACC is inferior to the SEC, but then who'll turn and rage at other Clemson fans who suggest that a 7-2 Clemson team is not inferior to a 7-2 SEC team.

I guess if we won with no penalties, no turnovers, scored a TD on 8 of 10 possessions and FG on the other two, a bunch of you “Fans” would gripe that we didn’t get a TD on every possession.
Y’all must have miserable lives and obviously you don’t remember the Bowden, West, etc eras.
There are 130 other teams that would love more “fans?”, why don’t you switch to them.!
But you need to ease up on some of these ideas that we are Pathetic. Are we Perfect? Nope not at all, but these kids give it all they have most games…. Yes… the Louisville game was terrible and I don’t think anyone on the coaching staff or the players have said anything differently.
If you can’t support Clemson then go to another team….

I think it’s pretty simple. You win and cover on the road against a conference opponent, you had a good day and should feel good.
Doesn’t mean it was perfect or that there aren’t concerns. Gripe when things go badly. Fair game.
But if you can’t then celebrate when the team does what it’s supposed to do are you even a fan? Or just some unstable, emotionally stunted, out of touch addict?
